Capcom developer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi has submitted a remake concept for Resident Evil 2 HD, further stoking excitement for the possibility of the classic’s return.
Speaking on his Facebook page (via Gematsu), Hirabayashi said, “Hello RE fans! This is H again! Right after the RE HD Remaster project was finished, I actually started putting together my ideas for this ‘RE2 Project’. So, I just brushed it up and went to see my boss to present the basic concept of the project already…”
Hirabayashi also included an image with his post, showing the front cover of his concept document. It’s titled, “Biohazard 2: New Rebirth Project”. Hirabayashi has previously worked on numerous Resident Evil games in a wide variety of roles, from facial animation to design.
Of course, none of this means that Resident Evil 2 HD is confirmed. We know that Capcom is interested in bringing the game to modern consoles, but whether they will actually do it and whether the company will approve Hirabayashi’s concept is not certain.
I wonder if the concept document just says: “Let’s make it HD!”
