The Deer God is Coming to Xbox One Next Month

Lee Bradley

Crescent Moon Games’ The Deer God has been given a release Xbox One. It’s coming to Microsoft’s big black box in September 1st, following a launch on Steam earlier this year.

“The Deer God is a karmic journey through a beautiful but hostile world,” says the blurb. “For your sins against deerkind, you have been reincarnated as a tender fawn. While your new path is fraught with danger, it also provides an opportunity to redeem yourself.”

“Prance, bound and frolic your way through a procedurally generated 2.5D world with dynamic lighting, distinct biomes and a day/night cycle. Mate with fellow deer and amass an affectionate following that will help you overcome the predators and puzzles ahead. Just remember that the Deer God is always watching, and your actions count in this game.”

Yeah, I dunno either. Let’s have a look at the Steam launch trailer, see if that helps. Oh, it’s a platformer! A plat-fawn-er. Hur hur.

  • GWG for September.
  • I don't care how many people complain about pixel-art style indie games, this game looks beautiful. I'll be supporting this developer from day one.
  • @1 took all of one post.......
  • @1 i dont get why everyone thinks indie/ pixel-art graphics games are gunna be gwg immediately. these games tend to be comeplete vs alot of "aaa" games that are incomplete. ie destiny. if anything these games should get just enough time away from gwg as most games do.
  • September 1st is a Tuesday, and [email protected] games come out on Wed/Fri. So for it to be coming on a Tuesday that happens to be the first of the month, it might actually make sense for it to be GWG. That said, I doubt #1 realizes that and was just spouting the usual indie ignorance. ;)
  • Yeah, seems like GWG candidate. If not, Day One buy for me. Looks beautiful.
  • @5 The thing I don't understand most about moronic posts like @1 is that no one is forcing them to buy or even pay any attention at all to these indie games. Yet announcement after announcement these idiots are always there to complain, as if one little independent developer making a budget title will threaten their next precious modern shooter mindless action sequel remaster.
  • @7 - People do love to get on a bloody bandwagon round here. I was just stating, albeit very bluntly, that this has a very high chance of being in Sept GwG. It's your presumption that I therefore absolutely have no regard for the game, it's hardworking developers and that the whole benefit of GwG is a waste of time. The Internet seems to give people a rocket boost onto their high horses and the anonymity to do so with uncivilised aggression. For your information my gaming history, which anyone can see, is more eclectic and diverse than your average Joe, so a prancing deer, mating like Hugh Hefner through a whimsical world of sugar and rainbows is right up my street.
  • Da fuq did I just watch
  • @8 I hear you, but a comment stating just that is typical to a person who only wants call of duty to be GWG, you kinda set yourself up for it., That being said what you said is true too. Good argumental skills and +100 no raging points, Lvl up OT: I think this looks FREAKING AWESOME I hope its GWG
  • Cool. I remember this for the SNES back in the day. Sounds like they redid the soundtrack though...
  • As for people saying @1 is jumping on the bandwagon, it seems they are jumping on a bandwagon of their own. Whether or not this will be GwG is neither here nor there for me. Its a quirky looking game, and I'll give this some attention.
  • I'm all for indie games. I hope Hyper Light Drifter eventually comes out. Games like The Fall really interest me. The style and artwork of this game look cool. But a game where you run around as a deer? You're trying too hard to be indie methinks. If it's GwG I'll try it.
  • hey guys this game is GwG for September
  • Ha ha ha WarioWarior called it. And you all down voted him for it.
  • @1 I just logged in to vote for you, since I didn't down vote you from the start for that matter. Good call man :-)
