Microsoft Announces Its Games With Gold Lineup for November

Microsoft has today announced its latest slew of Games For Gold for the month of November.

Xbox One owners will get the chance to get their mitts on both Pneuma: Breath of Life - which Rich called a "slightly insipid, short-lived and ultimately disposable puzzler" in his review a few months back - as well as the new Knight Squad, as reported yesterday.

While Pneuma is available to download for Xbox Live Gold members for free on November 1st for the whole month of November, gamers will have to wait until November 16th to download Knight Squad - you can do so for free until December 15th though.

Xbox 360 owners on the other hand will be able to download DiRT 3 from November 1st to November 15th, and Dungeon Siege 3 from November 16th to November 30th. I say Xbox 360 owners, but thanks to the marvel of backwards compatibility, Xbox One owners can play the aforementioned titles too. Hardly inspiring games, but hey ho, they're free, right?

For those that haven't downloaded Valiant Hearts (Xbox One) and The Walking Dead: Season 1 (Xbox 360) yet, you only have a few days left so get on it now. You still have a few weeks left to download the Xbox One version of The Walking Dead: Season 1 though, but still, why dilly dally? Get it downloaded.

  • Im glad I only paid £15,99 for 12 months subscription the other day... what a load of junk!
  • poop
  • Well I'm a little disappointed. I've heard bad things about Pneuma, Knight Squad is more of a co-op game than a solo one, (none of my friends have an Xbox) I'm not a big fan of racing games so Dirt 3 isn't that cool and I know nothing of Dungeon Siege 3. So overall I don't like this month but I hope other people will enjoy these games.
  • Dungeon Siege 3 was a total disaster. The dev pulled out everything good about the game and completely gimped it. There's no actual drop-in/drop-out co-op as advertised. Instead of bringing your character into a friend's game, you just join their game with a random character and you don't collect any gold or XP to bring back to your game. So you're basically taking over as an NPC in a friend's game. And no, you can't earn achievements in your friend's game, either. And it's linear. And you can't keep playing after the game ends. And the combat sucks and the hit detection is broken, as you can see from watching any gameplay video.
  • I'm really happy with thos 360 titles. Always been curious about DS3, but never curious enough to lay down the cash. I loved Dirt 2 but never got around to picking up Dirt 3. Good times.
  • If Carlsburg did 'games with gold' there'd probably be better that this
  • LET THE BITCHING BEGIN! Enough already, kids. There are a lot of news stuff coming next month. So relax, quit the rant mode and go have some fun. On the topic : any idea what's going to be with DLCs of 360 on One? Do we have a clear answer about that?
  • @2: You're paying for Xbox Live service, not the opportunity to get free games. That's just a bonus. If the bonus isn't to your liking, you're still getting the service you paid for. I'm glad about Pneuma, that was way overpriced but I wanted to play it. DS3 is another I always meant to play since it's an RPG but because of the issues #5 mentioned and a rather annoying achievement list I never bothered. Not interested in the other two though. @8: They will all work at launch. Mass Effect's got added to the preview program actually.
  • So glad that 360 Games for gold will be backwards compatible, cause Dirt 3 is awesome.
  • @2 We use to pay for xbox live gold for many years and got nothing for free so just be happy you now get deals and free games. Sure somethimes you won't like whats on offer or you may already have it, no need to complain as MS don't have to give us anything for free. Just be happy with the ones you do like and download between the games you buy. Remember there are a lot of games coming out next month to keep everyone happy and we probably won't get time or these anyway.
  • Pneuma is a easy 1000g with a guide take you just over a hour so why ain't more people on this site happy about this an dirt 3 is a great rally game an with bc coming Nov great chance to finish it
  • Already own Pneuma. Should of held off buying it but the easy achievements sucked me in. And already 1250d dungeon seige 3. Guess I'll pick up knight squad but 6ah...pretty chappy month.
  • They need to start a voting pole for games with gold, but I dont think thats gunna happen, luckly Fallout 4 comes out soon...so everyone will be playing that...
  • What you people don't seem to understand is that this is a courtesy, they don't have to lose money and give us free games every month. No fucking way are they gonna give us something that's $40 because if it's still worth $40 then that means people are still willing to buy it. Take the games and say thank you.
  • REPLY TO ""Comment #10 by The Pants Party [STAFF]"" you say "You're paying for Xbox Live service, not the opportunity to get free games. That's just a bonus. If the bonus isn't to your liking, you're still getting the service you paid for" BUT what about all the times xbox live is down ! do we all pay for that also? and for me im sure i payed for a 12 month xbox live gold service. when in fact like most of us lose around a total of 7-14 days of service within that year due to them having "issues" with servers or "updating" the system Rant Over
  • Well I'm glad I did not buy Pneuma because now I can grab it for free :) Don't know why people bitch so much. They are free after all, take them or leave them & have fingers crossed for next month.
  • not exactly mindblown by the selection on offer i have to admit. but i actually own none of these so more games to the collection im good with. least if i dont like them i didnt buy them. :)
  • Wow! Finally a month were I don't own any of the games. Dungeon Siege 3 was always one I wanted, but never seemed to have the spare money for and Pneuma was also one I wanted, but wasn't willing to pay the price they asked for it.
  • Of course people are moaning, guess you wanted star wars battle front and call of duty black ops 3 for free? They are free, get over it
  • @ 10 People are quick to forget that.. A lot of them think that their "LIVE Subscription" should have free games as standard. And then Piss and moan wheen it isn't one they want. Pisses me off when the self entitleds come out the woodwork.. Wah Wah Wah, Sob sob, Woe is me.. Go and bitch about it on FB so you can get all your attention likes with people asking you to inbox them. I've Been on Live now for over 11 years and I was happy to pay it for it then and I'm more than happy to carry on paying for the live service.. Free games to me are a bonus.. Not the other way round.
  • There's also going to be some free games most likely for their black Friday sales
  • Pneuma and everything else for me!
  • @18 Let's do the analysis. At maximum, the 12 month gold subscription is $60. At maximum, you said you lost 14 days of service. 365 days of Live at $60 = $0.16 per day. 14 days lost = $2.30. Is this really what you want to complain about?
  • Happy with that. 2 games I actually don't own on the one. 360 titles I barely scratched. They are a few 360 titles I wanna go back to that I had during a 2 year period where I was courting my current partner and my 360 got dumped.
  • Actually, it's a pretty decent selection of games considering they will be BC.
  • Just because someone thinks the games are shit doesn't mean they are bitching and whining they are entitled to their opinion. I think they are poor this month but it doesn't mean I'm going to cancel gold,
  • I'll be giving Knight Squad a go if it's a fairly easy 1000G. The dev was talking about it over on Reddit, seems like it won't have the problems that most of the GwG 2D-pixel games have (eg it'll have local and online play, as well as AI bots).
  • uh i need a refund for pnuema that game costed a fortune before.
  • Really happy to see Pneuma on this list. Been wanting to play it since it came out but the price wasn't justifiable. Looking forward to this one for sure.
  • Dirt 3 is always a blast to play! Never played Dungeon Siege, so that's cool! Xbox One gold titles won't exactly be top notch but then there's plenty of AAA titles for that and will be during November too, so it doesn't matter!
  • What a poor month, i hope December is better.
  • Dirt 3 by far the only game worth it here, even though its a shame its not the complete edition. DS III I think is known to have some annoying co op cheevos.
  • @2 where did you get Gold from for that price, need a renewal!
  • I had hoped for better on the lineup that would launch with backwards compatibility...oh well, at least we have Black Ops 3, Fallout 4 and Battlefront this month.
  • OMG Games with Gold is a service I paid a fortune for and thus it should always be whatever >I< want. ^Roughly how I read half of what people say about games with gold every month. -.- My real gripe would be more along the lines of games that are on both platforms being made free on both platforms... I'm looking at you: The Walking Dead, Assassin's Creed IV and Tomb Raider... I kind of get it though, it caters to people that don't have both consoles and is especially nice when you can enjoy a graphics boost and the likes, but that fact doesn't account for all games once backwards compatibility comes about... directly ogling at you now Walking Dead (even if you were easy achievements). 0.0 Anyway, I'm intrigued by Pneuma: Breath of Life, sounds like some mixed views, but it's a puzzle game and looks nice (empty from the pictures, but nice), and with easy achievements, how can I resist when I'm not spending money on it. Despite how much I like Bomberman, I'm not sure about Knight Squad, I'll just reserve my judgement and thoughts for now. Not particularly interested in racing games as such my self, unless it has something to mix it up (like Mario Kart or Wipeout), but I'll still add DiRT 3 to my list of games, just like MX vs ATV Alive, Motocross Madness and SSX. Already own Dungeon Siege 3, I really enjoyed it, but I guess as I knew nothing about it or its predecessors before hand, it means I could enjoy it for how it is rather than compare it to the previous games or how it was advertised or the likes... I'll agree the game wasn't perfect, but I've played worse... so much worse... *shudders* So overall, I think it's a nice month, it's got some balance to try to cater to different people's tastes and likes.
  • #26 thanks for shitting on him. Anyone who demands a refund for 14 days lost (what a giant fucking exaggeration, BTW) needs to be taken to school.
  • @29 Thank you for understanding, these are simply games that I would never buy. Complain as I may, it doesn't mean I'm dissatisfied with the service, I just would have liked something a bit less obscure. The past couple months have been pretty spot on, I was thrilled to get Walking Dead and Ground Zeroes for free.
  • I sold my copy of Dirt 3 ages ago so looking forward to getting this on GWG so I can finish it off.
  • @10 Pants, is there EVER a time where you DONT argue with everyone? You must be the MOST unprofessional (STAFF) person I have ever seen on ANY website. Quit.
  • Thank god for halo 5! I think those are the worst xbox one game selection ever! Ever!
  • @42 he stated facts. Not arguing at all.
  • @42 hardly arguing, just telling him the truth. The games are worthless but overall the £35 I paid for 12 months of XBL has been fine. I mean Tomb Raider and TWD equal that amount if you were to buy them retail so you can't argue. I do hope for an improvement for December, perhaps Ryse or AC Unity?
  • How dare M$ charge me £0 for games i don't want!
  • You people should look at ps+ shitty offerings over the last year. Xbox GWG has already over 2 months given me more i am interested in than 2 years of ps+.
  • So many entitled little bitches here, it's embarrassing.
  • @45 and 44. He argues the EXACT same statement EVERY time we say that the XBL FWG games are garbage. And these games are garbage. You might as well give me nothing. Also if people call Destiny garbage he flips his sh!t. Guy is GARBAGE.
  • @8 you know what's worse than people bitching? People telling people not to bitch. Have you not realized that on any topic, people disagree. I'm not complaining, but the recent titles have been utter shit. So, dad, how about you just stop the anti-bitching crusade and just read the comments for sheer hilarity like I do. You really get to see how stupid people can be.
  • bit poo really!
  • Nice pneuma easy 1k and dirt 3 is awesome and never played it on my own account so that's good.
  • having said that though Games For Gold is usually better than the PS+ free games.
  • Well I was hoping to play Dungeon Siege 3 in hopes it would be anything like Diablo 3 but after reading #5's comment I don't think I will be. :/
  • @42/49: I'm a gamer just like anyone else here, not sure why I shouldn't be able to discuss the topics at hand. If I argue the same thing it's because people complain about the same stuff over and over (when, in my opinion, they shouldn't). And Destiny is a great, fun game! Sorry you don't think so.
  • @49 are you simple? Dude posted he was glad he got xbl for cheap because he's upset with the free games we're getting when it's not even included in what we pay for. We've been paying for gold long before the free games came around and that's what was said by pants. You obviously have some kind of issue with him. But go ahead and thumbs me down...not sure how I'll ever recover.
  • @PANTS: The reason you keep explaining this every month is because you're not arguing the current business state. When you say, "You're paying for Xbox Live service, not the opportunity to get free games. That's just a bonus," this is incorrect. 1. We used to only pay for Xbox Live. 2. PS Online was free. 3. Microsoft's online infrastructure shit all over Sony's. 4. Sony realized they had to charges members to improve their infrastructure, but they would have egg on their face for doing so, since "PS doesn't charge for online but M$ does so Xbox sux" was a mantra of its players. 5. In order to charge players without undermining its position as a company "that doesn't rip off its playerbase", Sony began including free games with the paid memberships to offset its members' feelings of resentment for being charged for a previously free service. AT THIS POINT THE BUSINESS MODEL CHANGED FOR BOTH COMPANIES. 6. In order to stay competitive with Sony, Microsoft began offering free games to its members as well. 7. This was eventually 1 retail game and 1 arcade game each month. 8. This expanded to 4 games monthly when the X1 launched. 9. The 2 X360 games are now backwards compatible and can be played on the X1 as well. The 4 games we now receive each month are directly tied to Gold membership and this is the industry standard. This means the games are no longer "free". We have every right to be disappointed if the offerings are old or poorly reviewed.
  • another month of shit games
  • Dirt 3 on my xbox one. Fuk yeah, plus the dlc. Hppt happy
  • Happy about Dungeon Siege 3, been meaning to play it for years.
  • Dirt had the most potential but I truly hated the physics that Codemasters have used for their racing titles throughout the 360/PS3 era. Worth downloading and trying on a test account though. Plus for those that do really enjoy it, they will most likely put the DLC on sale a week or so later.
  • @18 This is some pretty idiotic reasoning. When you lose power at your house for an extended period of time, does the electric company reimburse your for all the food in your fridge that has gone bad? Does the cable company reimburse you for the TV you couldn't watch while their services are down. Losing 7-14 days of gaming a year is also a huge exaggeration. Sony severs are down more frequently (before you say I'm a Microsoft fanboy, I own both) and they don't reimburse you either. Servers go down. It happens. Stop being ungrateful and if you don't like the free games, just don't play them and carry on.
  • Not bad I guess. Can't complain for free. Admittedly NONE interest me. But Dirt is supposed to be good at least
  • @10 Pants... which version of the preview program are you in, that has "any" DLC that works (I got the Oct. 26 update a couple days ago)? I've been in the preview program for a while now, and ever since I could play the few 360 games availble that I own... NONE of them that has DLC can use it (they don't even show-up)! Even after I got the NXOE preview, the DLC still doesn't work. I know it's supposed to when the NXOE officially launches, but you indicated it's already working for you in Mass Effect! I played ME a week ago, and just popped it in again to check... no DLC (and, of course, I do already own both DLC add-ons).
  • @58: I definitely agree that GWG was a reaction to Sony (which was a reaction to Microsoft in the first place), and that it is considered standard, but I don't really agree that it should shift the outlook of what you're paying for. If they took it away, you would not be losing anything. Xbox Live would continue to function in the same way. The achievement system is a great parallel to this discussion. You're buying a game and you get this e-peen system that comes with it for free. If you took away the achievements, you'd still have the same game. You'd get all of the same features. But then a game ships with a bad/hard achievement list, and all of a sudden people view it as a different entity, and often even change their minds about getting a game when they were excited until then by the things that really matter (the gameplay, story, and graphics). @65: I was able to install my Mass Effect DLC over the weekend - go to the game hub, that's where it will be. I'm in the NXE preview, and I have not received any updates in the past few days. Not sure exactly which version it is.
  • worst GWG till date.. only Dirt 3 is a nice one for GWG...
  • 3 games I haven't played is great for me.
  • Knight squad golds zero interest but dirt 3 and pneuma look very fun.
  • Sure entitled since bitches in this comment section. YOU are exactly what's wrong with gaming. The entitled generation has ruined everything. Spoiled little brats that never had to work for anything in their lives and sure as hell don't want to start now. I can't wait to see how they fail when they get out into the real world. You all high school twats are going to have a rude walk up call soon enough.
  • I wish i was Microsoft : I can make you pay for an online service, offer you shitty games whose 90% have DLC so I can actually promote old games and get some cash on DLCs that would never had sold otherwise and still I will get a bunch of guys on the internet defending me. "Oh sweet Dirt 3, i ll even buy the DLC", "omg it s Dungeon Siege !!! ", seriously is it a contest about who sucks MS's cock the most deeply ? They advertise about Game with Gold, it has become a crucial advantage to beat PS+ but they give us 5 years old game maybe 1% of live subscribers actually want and we all know it s an alternative way to sell DLCs. But still some morons play the "spoiled child" card from the deck .... Marketing really worked well on you ....
  • @72 you're annoying. Go to ps4 then you whiney cunt. Know that you will not be missed.
  • Pneuma was good, I'd recommend it. Looking forward to knight squad, Chris Charla of id@xbox was raving about it in a video at e3
  • @72 The "spoiled child" card is used because it is relevant. You and so many others are so entitled. If you want change, do something about it instead of complaining and doing your pseudo-demonstration on this forum like a little bitch. Does it bother you that some people are happy with what they're getting? Perhaps they actually enjoy those games. Just because the games this month might have gotten a low score on most sites doesn't mean that nobody likes them. I usually enjoy at least one of the games released every month, but I must admit I'm a bit disappointed with this one. But I'm looking forward to next month, as the previous months has been excellent.
  • @ Everybody: Stop getting mad at pants guys.... Its not his fault he's a puppet. He gets paid to promote all this garbage. Lol.
  • @49 then don't download them, you will have nothing. Yay now you're happy. @76 Pretty sure Pants doesn't work for Microsoft, and doesn't get paid to promote anything. But hey, keep bitching about something just to bitch about it.
  • You can definitely tell who is a child and who is an adult in these comments. Wow. On topic, it's a pretty disappointing month but oh well, have plenty to do either way.
  • @1,2,3 could be worse you could be paying for ps+ and have junk every month since launch. I've been paying for ps+ since launch day and not downloaded 1 game, think I've had two on Xbox gold.
  • @10 hmmm, no just no, Xbox live is marketed with having free monthly games just like ps+ so you're paying for them if you like it or not it's only right for people to complain if they're not getting anything for their money. I already pay for broadband so why is Microsoft and Sony charging us for it when we're not even playing on dedicated servers, we play on each other's connections. Do publishers and developers not market their games as having multiplayer when you buy them ? You've paid for the game you should be able to play all parts of the product without having to pay an extra cost to a 3rd party and if that's the case the developers and publishers shouldn't market the game as having multiplayer unless they are going to cover the cost to Microsoft or Sony to use their product over their network.
  • Nice, I wanted to try Dungeon Siege III.
  • The selection isn't terrible, but as with most past offerings it's just another way to sell more DLC. For the casuals it's a free game, but for the completionists and achievement hunters it's a way to bait them into paying.
  • Glad to be getting two games I don't own already since last month I owned all but one. Wish I hadn't bought pneuma when it was on sale since I haven't played it yet but not too upset since someone else bought the Microsoft dollars I paid with.
  • @76: I've got a ton of back pay coming my way then! Haven't seen a cent yet... oh that's right, I volunteer for a privately owned website. Damn...
  • This year alone we've gotten Mafia 2, Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider, the Metro games, along with other good games. Gears of War 3 and Judgement, Assasins Creed: Black flag, Just Cause 2, Crysis 3, Thief, Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes and The complete first season of The Walking Dead. Thats not too bad a bang for your buck!!!! what more do people want? halo 5???? black ops 3....stop complaining!!!
  • @ Pants (67): If you rented a car from Hertz, and they gave you a complimentary air freshener, but it was the scent of fresh cow manure, would you complain? Or would you say, "Hey, they gave me an air freshener that they didn't have to give me in the first place, so I'll just enjoy the smell of shit"? I agree with you that if you removed achievements themselves from games, we'd still have a complete game. But I also think that achievements (and to a lesser extent games with paid online memberships) are something that is now expected and has become a part of the gaming culture. If Halo 5 had no achievements we'd be in an uproar. The playing field has changed and if they're going to give us games each month as a "Thank you" for our loyalty, they should be good games. We're going to call out the cow manure when we smell it.
  • @67 Thanks, Pants. I did find it when I looked at the "Manage game" options for Mass Effect. I'll need to download it! This might be of interest to some... I don't have the ME DLC installed on my 360's (current) hard drive, but it may be on one of my other drives I swap for playing single-player only games. I do have the DLC for Borderlands installed on my 360's (current) HD, and when I loaded Borderlands on Xbox One a little while ago... the DLC is already installed! I don't know why one game already has it installed and the other does not... makes me wonder if MS/Xbox could read it as installed on my 360 and auto-downloaded it for XB1?! The only reason I "just" tried borderlands on XB1, was because there was a pop-up that said it was "Ready to Start..." It made me curious. The other reason that ME may not have auto-installed the DLC, is because I only own the game on disc, not digital (the game disc is installed to XB1, though). All of my Borderlands content is digital, and maybe THAT is the reason they (MS/Xbox) installed all of the DLC for me (which is fine). On a different note... it took me looking through a few articles to find THIS one to see if I got a response from Pants! All the arguing and bitching going on here, instead of celebrating the list of free games announced here... I forgot where I posted a query!!! Oh... the DLC for those "Keflings" games might be active now. COOL!!!
  • @86: I'd choose not to use the air freshener. That was nice of them to offer, but I don't like that smell. :)
  • I'm not complaining at all. I've got Dirt 3 on PC but it's a fantastic game and I can't wait to play it again. And I don't have the other 3 games, so I can try them out for free. Good deal. Honestly the only time I'm disappointed with Games With Gold is when the month's offering is games I already have. But that's the luck of the draw I guess.
  • @58 Now. I'm from the States. The united ones. I know we do some crazy crap here but I have a hard time understanding your chief complaint. Also, I will freely admit that I've not done research in regards to xbox live differences for me and you, that is if there are any. But you said the following when addressing the issue of Game with Gold being free: "When you say, '"You're paying for Xbox Live service, not the opportunity to get free games. That's just a bonus,"' this is incorrect." Your following defense of that statement I feel is inaccurate. You establish a relative correlating timeline which is all good and grand, but it doesn't defend your point in my opinion. Now maybe your timelines are different if you aren't in the States (again, no research) but the current standard annual cost of XBL Gold ($60 here) was increased from the old cost ($50 here) in November 2010. This happened well before Games With Gold was established (June 2013). To me that indicates that nothing has changed. They have maintained the same cost even after adding GwG. I would argue that GwG adds to the value of an XBL Gold membership but not to the cost. My reasoning is that the cost did not increase upon implementation, I think that's fairly direct. Whether it's expected by gamers or not, the price has not made an adjustment to accommodate that change. If you argue that the price of the service would have lowered were it not for that addition of what I'm going to agree with Pants on and say "bonus" games, I have little to argue with. Mainly because that's not the trend of the established business model of this type of service. So before you go arguing that GwG is part of the business model and should appeal to all gamers because they are paying for it, let me add that people use xbox live for all kinds of purposes, however I believe Xbox and MS use GwG as marketing not as an additional source of income. Sure, some people will see the GwG and might make the switch because of that. But there's not an different rated versions of Xbox live Gold. There's not one with GwG and one without. It's a marketing tactic, first foremost. It can assist and complement the existing business model as a good marketing incentive should, but whether you anticipate it or not does not make it inherent to the cost you are paying. Price is the same as it was before GwG, I don't even know how I should have to say more than that. Hopefully that is clear. RANT OVER
  • Pneuma looks like a free 1000G so I'll gladly take that
  • @78 can you actually tell the difference? Sadly I see just as many adults act like the kids they complain about. On topic looking forward to most of these just wish dungeon siege had a true co-op mode.
  • @67 For some people achievements are the thing that matter. Maybe not for you. For example I've played +600 games on Xbox after I got my first 360 back in 2008. I got hooked up with achievements and started getting a lot of games based on their achievement lists. I would have never gotten to 600 games played without the addition of achievements. That number would probably be around 100 if there was no achievement system (from 2008 until 2015). My completion percentage is about 60% so I'm not a pure completionist or someone who only plays easy games for gamerscore. Of course I do play those easy games but not solely them. I do have GH3 1000/1000 on my tag as an example.
  • Not a great month in truth, which is a shame, but you can't win them all I guess. I think dirt was a bad idea though as surely its a prime time now to give Forza away on the xbox one? Just a thought. I'll get dungeon siege because I like RPGs, but tbh DS wasn't all that great, still, its free and you cant really be too unhappy about that.
  • Given November is the launch of the new das board and backward compatibility, i would have expected some better games for this months GWG.
  • @84 Ohhh... Now I see. Your a free puppet who dances for free. Wow. Lost what little respect I had for you there. I kind of figured maybe this guy fights to get his point across because of some kind of payment he receives. But you'll never convince me this site doesn't have an agenda. It used to be achievements.org then it switched to .com Somebody's gettin paid and when theres money involved an agenda usually follows it. I think Machinama got busted a few months back for receiving a huge payout from Microsoft under the table back in 2013. Microsoft wrote them a check to promote Xbox one and make it sound like it was the best console ever. But nobody knew they were getting paid to do this. But hey maybe I'm wrong, Maybe all the authors and staff on this website are just ignorant AF.
  • @96 the owners of this site also own another site called playstationtrophies.org. so i highly doubt there are hidden agendas lol. But wait, most of the xbox users prefer xbox and the playstation users prefer playstation? ILLUMINATI CONFIRMED!
  • While it is a low month, Pneuma and Dirt 3 are generally positive in reviews. Just have far too many great XB1 games to bother with 360 games that I am not overly interested in. And no not expecting new releases like the ID@Xbox game in this months GWG. Just expect from the 360 a few better titles as most people are moving on from it.
  • I'll stick them both in my queue and worry about if I want to play them later. Have both the 360 games already, but not the Xbone ones.
  • @93, i agree. Achievements are awesome. Imagine not having. So say Skyrim, would most of the people who played try to level up so much to get the legendary dragon. Halo, would people bother looking for the skulls, or collecting all the orbs in Crackdown or play through the game several times to earn the different endings or karma in the fallout games. I think a lot of gamers would have just got the final boss in games and that be it, onto the next. Achievements can give you more reasons to explore every part of the game. I hate online achievements though. As for all this GWG, they arent gonna please everyone, guessing the people that buy games day one and try so many games are the ones to complain the most. I take my time with games, usually get them less than half price and i try all the GWG, most of which never played or heard of.
  • So wading through the comments of whiners whining about whiners who aren't happy with this months piss poor selection and the only thing i feel the need to comment on is: destiny IS crap! Actually it makes crap look good, Not even standard crap, proper stinkin, sloppy, nutty, gnarly jobby crap. That game has screwed every single one of its fans time an time again. Not even gonna get started on how as I'll be typing forever.
  • @5 That is not true I played in a friends game on an old profile on this game and unlocked trophies playing in their game so your comment is inaccurate.
  • I hate when people down vote people for saying they are "shit games" when truth is... they are shit games! everything is Halloween on Xbox right now, why not give us 'Dead Rising 3' or something? it's been out for 2 years and I'm sure it's 3x better than this garbage. I'm not gonna say I'd cancel my gold account because of it... who goes gold just for the free games? I will say however, GWG is my favorite announcement every month, this month didn't do anything for me. 360 titles are better than Xbox One.
  • @90: Your argument that the cost did not change, therefore the games are a “bonus,” is invalid. You are ignoring the point I made—the business model changed. If you’re a beverage company and you sell your 12 oz. cans loose, but your competitors start bundling their cans in six-packs, and you see consumers prefer buying in six-packs, you’re going to start selling six-packs as well. You might increase the price to offset the cost of the plastic to create the six-pack wrap, or YOU MIGHT ABSORB THAT COST TO REMAIN COMPETITIVE. But regardless of what you charge, consumers now expect to buy six-packs. You might try to substitute your six-pack plastic with alternatives, such as rings made of hemp or a cardboard box or whatever. And if those are inferior alternatives the consumers will complain, no different than we complain when we get shitty games. But at no point can you stop offering six-packs, because that’s what the consumer expects. In fact, if you stop offering six-packs but your competitors continue to, you’re going to lose business again. The only way six-packs disappear is if both parties agree to stop simultaneously. Don’t believe me? Look what happened when MS tried to make used games go away but Sony didn’t. The fact that price did not increase is completely irrelevant to whether or not these games are a “bonus.” And no, I will not entertain any of the other strawman arguments you posited, because there is only one argument I have: the business model has changed and these games are now part of the package, so when they are perceived as having low value it is reasonable that we complain.
  • I haven't played any of these games before, though I'll be playing Dirt 3 first.
  • @96 You're quite clearly someone that has been banned multiple times, but it's fun watching you cry and make claims that just make you look even more foolish. I'll help your tiny brain out. We used to be called xbox360achievements.org rather than .com, because someone else owned the .com domain and wouldn't sell it to us. Then when the Xbox One came out we renamed the site to just xboxachievements.com (as we already owned that domain) as we weren't just dealing with 360 achievements anymore. IS that satisfactory or are you struggling with some of those simple concepts? I mean you can sit in a corner spinning your conspiracy theories all day long but here's the thing, this site covers purely Xbox related consoles and as such MS don't need to bribe or pay us anything - as we are essentially doing their job for them. Why would you need to pay a successful independent site, when they are doing a great job of getting people interested in Xbox through reviews, guides and videos? Same goes for Playstation Trophies. Or do you think MS are pissed that we also run a site for the competition? Maybe we could play Sony/MS off against each other and see who'll offer the biggest kickback to shut down the other site? IT COULD BE A BLOODBATH. By the way, I'm being sarcastic. We do well enough covering both MS and Sony and we treat all games and content without any bias, because we are adults with common sense - not conspiracy fuelled children. Have a great day.
  • Why moan about getting free games, they are FREE after all haha people are only moaning because playstation has ps+ what they also pay for monthly
  • Wow!! This has been an entertaining read. I share Pants and Frankie's opinions here. I'm happy to get something additional when it wasn't previously offered but I don't go bat shit crazy if it's a game I have already played. There are a lot of fantastic titles out and coming out soon, why would you want to spend the time playing a 'games with gold" title and you should be playing Halo 5! If H5:G isn't your cup of tea, how about: Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone Assassin's Creed Darksider's II WWE Maybe you're slowly rolling through: MGV Gears Then we have: Black Ops 3 Fallout 4 Tomb Raider Jast Cause 3 There are enough titles where you shouldn't necessarily care about one "bad month." If this is the worst thing in your world, then please find another hobby while I download these and add them to my backlog.
  • @104 I'll give it to you that you are aware of rhetorical fallacy terms, but there's a lot of issues with your statement. Even if I accept that GwG is inherent to a competitive business model, this does not apply to me and lots of other gamers. If Xbox discontinued GwG right this minute and left the cost the same. I'd not care too much. Honestly, GwG are not important to me. Sometimes they are nice pleasantries, but I don't pay for that. I pay for Xbox Live, for the multiplayer primarily, and honestly nearly exclusively. Your argument assumes a few things. Namely that all players require GwG to have good service. And therefore should complain when they aren't good games. I'm not saying gamers don't have a right to complain when the games aren't to their liking, I'm saying what's the point? You aren't paying anything additional for them. You can like them you can hate them, they add to the value of the subscription, but if they are something you don't like, they don't take away from the value. Which brings me to another point. How do you suggest Xbox release games that EVERYONE will enjoy? Gaming is largely a personal thing. How is a company supposed to cater to everyone's demands? You could posit the suggestion we get so many credits (money) if we elect to do so, or even in place of the free game. Let's call it free. Seriously, I'm not paying for them. I'm paying for the service. Games are just a bonus. Also. How is my argument strawman? Because you did not agree? It applied to the topic. I argued that GwG IS in fact a bonus. And you saying that I used a strawman argument says that I didn't. My support was in the cost, I'll grant you that because you didn't mention the cost. But the point of my opinion and argument was that GwG IS a bonus. I refuted that. I supported it how I felt was valid. Even if you don't agree, that doesn't make it strawman. Maybe you heard that word in an English course in a half daze, I don't know. I don't believe my argument was strawman. In fact this reply is more strawman than my last. And I wouldn't even go as far as to say that it qualifies as a fallacy in its content. I don't see GwG as a business model. I don't expect it. In fact, I'm quite skeptic. I thought they were going to discontinue it last year before it was announced for renewal. I see it as a marketing tactic as I said. I don't demand to have the free games. If I get them and it's something I like, awesome. But if not, what have I lost? To what disservice has Microsoft placed upon me? I don't think any. For the people out there who disagree, they're entitled to that. I just think it makes you a lot less happy to be complaining about free stuff. But, your life, you live it how you want. I will continue to enjoy (or not) my free games each month
  • some of you kids need to get laid
  • @109: Re-read what I said. "I will not entertain any of the other strawman arguments you posited." The word "other" is in that sentence. I was referring to the strawman arguments you presented and then tore down at the end of your first post: "…let me add that people use xbox live for all kinds of purposes, however I believe Xbox and MS use GwG as marketing not as an additional source of income. Sure, some people will see the GwG and might make the switch because of that. But there's not an different rated versions of Xbox live Gold. There's not one with GwG and one without. It's a marketing tactic, first foremost. It can assist and complement the existing business model as a good marketing incentive should, but whether you anticipate it or not does not make it inherent to the cost you are paying." These are all strawman arguments. I know what the word means and your attempts at character assassination, i.e., "Maybe you heard that word in an English course in a half daze," only discredit you. In your last post you talked about how a company cannot cater to everyone's demands. I agree. That topic has NOTHING to do with what I was talking about. You also mention the option of tokens, which we've discussed here before, and it's a fantastic compromise. But again, it has NOTHING to do with what I'm talking about. All I said was, "The 4 games we now receive each month are directly tied to Gold membership and this is the industry standard. This means the games are no longer 'free.' We have every right to be disappointed if the offerings are old or poorly reviewed." The words "old" and "poorly reviewed" are subjective. I may think a two-year-old game that has a 60 rating on metacritic is old and poorly reviewed while you could think a 4-year-old game with a 50 rating is recent and has average reviews. That's about the only debatable point in my statement.
  • #10 gets the most up votes. love how all the cock gobblers give him the most thumbs up. what a surprise.
  • Free game is a free game! Might be mince but if its only available on arcade I may as well get em :)
  • Shit...played both 360 games before. No intention of revisiting. Guess that's it for me this month...
  • @24. No matter how awesome that would be, I very much doubt they would give out free games.
