Mastertronic Titles Delisted From Xbox Games Store

Last month, veteran UK publisher Mastertronic sadly went into administration, with a focus on train and flight simulations to be the company's only going concern moving forward. Unfortunately, this also means that Mastertronic's games have recently been delisted.

That means the likes of Spectra on Xbox One have been removed, alongside XBLA titles like Foul Play, Pool Nation, Serious Sam 3: BFE and Serious Sam: Double D XXL on Xbox 360. Some listings remain, but you can no longer purchase them from the Xbox Games Store.

The Mastertronic brand had a 32 year history in video games, with its current guise dating back to 2004 when Sold Out and The Producers merged. The publisher had put out retail version of Worms titles, as well as the now delisted digital games. Hopefully, these titles will find their way back onto the Xbox Games Store soon.

  • Spectra was actually a fun little game. Shame more people won't be able to play it.
  • Why can't they let have big Sale before they do this or give the games away for Free for a week. There was literally no warning. Now those Achievements are unobtainable.
  • What does this mean if you already own the games? can you still play them or no? Cause I own pool nation, and I'd be a sad panda if I couldn't play it anymore.
  • @2.. At least they could have clawed in some revenue.. Just because they have gone in to administration, its just while they sort out the finances, so you never know. They could reappear again.
  • @3. Yes, as long as you own them, you can play them. Although games that require online cheeves might be unobtainable.
  • But digital is the future. /Sarcasm
  • I had no clue that they were around for that long. I have never even noticed the name before either
  • Reinstalling Spectra now to give it another playthrough soon. Bought it as soon as it came out, and loved every second of it. Disappointed that the Serious Sam titles are gone as well... Hopefully, with the company focusing on a strict selection of titles, they'll be able to make a comeback in the future.
  • @2 I know this site is XboxAchievements but damn, is that all you care about? Free games for extra cheevos?
  • Weird that Pool Nation on Xbox 360 is delisted but not on Xbox One. Aside from that, not a big deal for me.
  • At least you can buy the serious sam games on disc
  • @9 His motives to play should only matter to him.He just asked about the process of games being delisted. When they take games away with no warning, we all lose.It would seem like a beneficial situation, to offer up the games on sale prior to a delisting. However, I don't think they should ever give a heads up. Prior notice would be nice, but we're talking about the misfortune of others here.Besides, the games have been on sale dozens of times over the years.I have them all but it's sad that others will miss out. Even if Zero only cared about cheevs, how can you force your "moral compass" on him?In the context you reference, there is no right or wrong.People just love to game.Achievements are only a small part of a whole. If I look back at the 1000 or so 360,Ps3,One and Vita games I own and only think about trophies and cheevs.. SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH ME!My.. no OUR, motivation is simple. We simply love to game.No matter what, we all end up doing the same thing.. Playing games. We just get there through different paths.
  • @9: I was about to say the same thing. I mean, tons of people are probably going to lose their jobs and all this guy can say is "can I haz free games for fake internet points". Ill give him the benefit of the doubt by saying I'm sure he's more considerate then that and just didn't really think before speaking.
  • Never got around to buying foul play hope it's available on pc.
  • @13 What about the various studios that purchased THQS' assets? You don't think they lowballed their bids? They absolutely "took advantage" of THQS' misfortune.Do you think they would have overbid to help them out?No, they wouldn't. Asking for free games may have been a bit much, but a sale is not so unreasonable (still it would be in bad taste to offer up such a deal, considering the situation). "I mean, tons of people are probably going to lose their jobs and all this guy can say is "can I haz free games for fake internet points". The point he was making is why take it away and get nothing, when you can make something from it.My feelings have been posted on the matter though. It boggles my mind, why you guys think one way of gaming is better than the other. People game for their own reasons, not yours.
  • @7 You must be a younger gamer. Their brand hasn't really been noticeable for many years now I have to say. I used to buy Mastertronic titles for my ZX Spectrum back in the 80s. Fond memories.
  • This is a shame to hear, but I'm glad I at least bought Spectra when it was on sale recently. Not had a chance to play it yet but it does look good.
  • Sad to hear about this after a 32 year history.
  • @9,13 I'm totally in it for the Achievements. This site is 'XboxAchievements.com not 'Change.org'. I don't care if a company goes bust, happens all the time :D
  • @15 hush now. You're making the matter worse.
  • @16 Nope, I'm in my late 20's. It's not my fault I'm American lol
  • @20 Nah bruh, It's the others who think one way of gaming, is better than the other. In the end, everyone plays games for their own reasons.Whatever your motivations, we all end up doing the same thing.
  • This is too bad. I had so many Mastertronic titles for the Commodore 64 back in the late 80's. Loved their games. I didn't even realize they were still around.
  • Got some serious nostalgia going on right here. Pocket money gaming at £1.99 a game on tape from the newsagents I bought my Beano at. The Last V8, Finders Keepers, Spellbound, Chiller, One man and his Droid, Way of the Exploding Fist and Double Dragon stand out in my mind.
  • Well shit, I bought some serious Sam games but deleted them for room. Now I can never play them again despite paying for them.
  • Jaws, just go back to your download history. They may have been delisted, but you can still download them that way.Have you considered an external hdd for your 360?I have a 2Tb and its wonderful.I have all the Sams by the way.
  • @15: It has nothing to do with "one way of gaming being better than the other". It also has nothing to do with "motivations". What kind of SJW nonsense is that? It has everything to do with asking for free games when a company goes bankrupt, which is just extremely selfish and disrespectful. Other game companies buying THQ properties is absolutely not the same thing. Obviously I know this is XboxAchievements.com, I've been visiting the site for its entire lifetime, but even though I love achievements I can still show some respect for people who are losing their jobs.
  • Darn Serious Sam: Double D XXL is a great game. I hope the Xbox community gets to purchase these games again soon.
  • Why is there rarely a warning when things like this happen??? Hate that stuff.
  • @27 Its exactly the same thing. The correlation is people taking advantage of a situation to get a gain. "It has everything to do with asking for free games when a company goes bankrupt, which is just extremely selfish and disrespectful." ... "(still it would be in bad taste to offer up such a deal, considering the situation).. :/ We may disagree on the semantics, but it IS exactly the same.My THQ reference, was simply meant to show someone using that situation to get a gain.Wanting a sale or "taking advantage" of their administration, are essentially the same in that instance. The context of #15 was absolutely valid.
  • Sweet, thanks for the heads up baki. I didn't know I could download from my history.
  • Oh man.
