Sweet, looks good for an arcade gameMonday, March 02, 2009 @ 12:20 PM
So are the multi-release Wednesdays over or what?Monday, March 02, 2009 @ 12:20 PM
Im really can't wait to see the movie and Im hoping this will be good. I might buy but is this online co-op as well cause from what Webb wrote it sounds like its only local co-op?Monday, March 02, 2009 @ 12:28 PM
another 1600 point game I can see microsoft pushing up the prices on all there games. The most I would pay for an arcade game is 1200 people shouldn't encourage microsoft to push prices up. It looks good though lets just hope they discount it one of the weeks :)Monday, March 02, 2009 @ 12:30 PM
Good to know I can save my MS points :)Monday, March 02, 2009 @ 12:32 PM
@#4 - Actually, I have no idea. I've just had a little search and couldn't see anything concrete.Monday, March 02, 2009 @ 12:33 PM
I dnt have 1600ms points...But I will when this comes out.Monday, March 02, 2009 @ 12:38 PM
Episodic Arcade titles really need to grip me. None have so far. I hope something else comes this week. The new Puzzle Quest came out on Steam a little bit ago.Monday, March 02, 2009 @ 12:37 PM
Pass unfortunately im outpriced ;PMonday, March 02, 2009 @ 12:49 PM
I was planning on buying this even if it was bad, but now I am going to have to play the trial to decide ... stupid overpricing.Monday, March 02, 2009 @ 01:08 PM
But who watches the Watchmen?Monday, March 02, 2009 @ 01:10 PM
Ah yes, let's take one of the most intellectual and thought provoking comics ever written and turn it into a PURE beat 'em up. That's EXACTLY what Alan Moore had in mind when he wrote Watchmen.Monday, March 02, 2009 @ 01:21 PM
Whats a watchmenMonday, March 02, 2009 @ 01:26 PM
Looks pretty damm awesome but 1600? Jesus i remember xbla games used to be 800 mp and even then that was pretty 'steep'.Monday, March 02, 2009 @ 01:26 PM
comment #6, id rather pay 1600 points twice then buy a retail for $60. You gotta think about the time and money that goes into making each arcade game and judging by the screen shots this looks like a pretty detailed game and probably will take a good chunk of harddrive spaceMonday, March 02, 2009 @ 01:33 PM
looks and sounds like a pretty kickass gameMonday, March 02, 2009 @ 01:42 PM
1600 points for 2 characters is really weak. Access denied.Monday, March 02, 2009 @ 01:42 PM
it's this or the SRV album on RB, i can't decide! it might come down to what takes up the least amount of hd space, since i have about 1.7GB left and can't afford to upgrade to a 60/120GBMonday, March 02, 2009 @ 01:42 PM
at 1600pts they go shove this one up their ass, and I dont care how good it may be. Well, I say that, if it's so absolutely amazing that I must get it then I will but I doubt it somehow. 1600pts = no purchase. I have only bought 2 1200 point games being Bankshot Billiards 2(felt ripped off) and SSFIITHDR (Barely played it due to my hate for the 260 d-pad). I have bought Braid recently, but only on the cut price. I hate how R-Type was 1200. If that was 800 I would have considered but 1200 is too high. Death Tank I really dont get, not really what I would expect to be a 1200 game. It seems MS are purposefully upping the prices to increase revenues, but the quality hasn't changed.Monday, March 02, 2009 @ 01:50 PM
1600 pts!! damn i was hyped about this game but now i dunnoMonday, March 02, 2009 @ 01:48 PM
penny arcade was worth it when it was 1600 so ill be open to giving this a chanceMonday, March 02, 2009 @ 01:53 PM
Look at a screenshot of this game...you can you say it doesn't deserve a $20 pricetag? A lot of work has gone into this title!Monday, March 02, 2009 @ 02:03 PM
Yeah, a lot of work has gone into it. But a lot of work went into Assassins Creed aswell. AMIRITE?! Probs still get it. IMonday, March 02, 2009 @ 02:19 PM
@#1 We shall die together m8! I am for sure going to pick this one up!Monday, March 02, 2009 @ 02:13 PM
@21 Yeah death tank was garbage, i wouldn't pay 400 for that game but hopefully they discount R-Type soon for 800. 20$ for a game that's more than likely going to suck ass is a joke.Monday, March 02, 2009 @ 02:36 PM
This game has no business existing AND it's overpriced.Monday, March 02, 2009 @ 02:34 PM
Not getting this for 2 reasons. #1: $20 for only 2 of the Watchmen? Weak. and #2: No online co-op. WTF?!Monday, March 02, 2009 @ 02:57 PM
$20 per episode and if there were to be 3 episodes thats $60. No thanks i'll pick up a used game or new game and get 400 more gamerscore with it.Monday, March 02, 2009 @ 03:53 PM
$20? I'll wait until its discounted. I love the book but couldn't see it ever as a video game. Guess I won't be able to for a while.Tuesday, March 03, 2009 @ 06:14 AM
While i'm not going to be getting this myself, i just want to slightly argue that the price might be abit justifed as if you actually look at what the game is, it's not a 2D Scroller or some other typical "arcade" looking game, if they had stuck both episodes together they could probably have released it as a full $50 title (and IMO from a business sense with the film coming up that would totally have been the correct move)Tuesday, March 03, 2009 @ 06:42 AM
Perhaps they are releasing it as episodic as they couldn't finish the full game in time for a movie release so thought they'd do a half arsed 2 part game and try and make almost full wack for it.Tuesday, March 03, 2009 @ 09:06 AM
Might be worth it. Visuals are decent. Above average for an arcade title. But it'd have to play like a damn charm to be worth that price tag. Guess we'll find out Wednesday. I'm not holding my breath, though. Generic beat 'em-ups are a dime a dozen. Regardless of whether or not they have Watchmen characters in them.Tuesday, March 03, 2009 @ 11:10 AM
Weird achievement Numbering
Monday, March 02, 2009
With the impending release of the Hollywood adaptation of the Watchmen graphic novel this Friday, it's only fitting that Warner Bros release their arcade game this Wednesday.
Those wanting to see the film and play the game, fear not, the game is actually a prequel to the movie so you won't have to sit there and endure painful spoilers.
The co-op beat 'em up, The End is Nigh, is episode 1 of 2 from Deadline Games and will weigh in at a hefty 1,600 Microsoft Points but remember folks, this isn't your traditional arcade title. Penny Arcade proved that there was a market for downloadable episodic titles and Watchmen are looking to build on that success.
The lowdown from Xbox.com:
The lines between good and evil have been blurred and crime and terror run rampant in the streets. The alleys, rooftops, and sewers are crawling with criminals and brutal gangs. And now, Underboss—in a daring escape—has broken out of prison and is ruling with vicious darkness. The city is in need of saviors and only masked hero vigilantes answer the call. Answer the call in Watchmen: The End Is Nigh.
