Halo 5's Ghost of Meridian Coming in Early April

With Halo 5: Guardians' Hammer Storm update launching at the end of February as planned, it seems that the next free dose of content set ot be delivered in the Ghosts of Meridian DLC will miss its launch window this month, and will instead release in early April.

"Typically, we’ve released our new content in the middle or end of each month, and this one misses that by just a few days, but the terrifying psychological effect of missing that exact monthly cadence cannot be denied!" states 343 over on HaloWaypoint.

However, with Halo 5's Warzone Firefight also on the horizon, 343 Industries has released the first image of the upcoming mode, available to view in all its glory above. Warzone Firefight will see the return of the popular PvE co-op mode in which Spartans band together to battle waves of enemies, while showing off their custom Spartan armour and colours.

A specific date has yet to be slapped on Halo 5's Warzone Firefight, but it'll be coming with the remainder of the scheduled free content for spring/summer 2016. Look out for Ghosts of Meridian in early April.

  • This is how you do post launch content for the multiplayer side of things. Gotta give them a pat on the back even if the story is a bit disappointing and doesn't have enough maps in rotation. This is a step towards redemption.
  • I really gotta install Halo 5 again & get back into the mix. My hdd space is very limited though & last I heard, the updates are over 20 gb. Gotta finish up a few games to make room.
  • @2 The cost of HDD's is coming down. Maybe time to invest? I recommend it. OT: Yay!
  • @1 agreed. Say what you want about the game, but you have to admire 343s commitment to FREE DLC. Wish other developers/publishers would take note.
  • Sorry but all this should of been preset day 1, as all previous ones have had most of the stuff they have added. This is 343s way of acting like they are doing gamers a favour.
  • @5 Previous Halo games have also had a lot of content added after launch. All of which has been chargable. This is another FREE update. So whether it was added at launch or via an update now makes no difference. How does that mean 343 are acting like they are doing us a favour? The way I see it is they are passionate about their IP and want to support it the best way they see fit. Some people are so entitled. Free content and you whinge!
  • I need infection
  • Free updates paid for by in-game purchases of REQ packs, don't forget. Sure, other companies could take note, but there is still a cost to producing content, and if they aren't charging us for it, then they must be generating revenue through other means, like micro-transactions. You can't just expect companies to throw free content at you whenever you want it- they are in business to generate revenue and a profit, plain and simple. If H5 did not have micro-transactions, you would probably be charged for this content as DLC. That, or future content was budgeted for in the beginning, so the cost has been subsidized that way, for now. The free content is nice and welcome, but shouldn't be expected the way people are expecting it.
  • @8 - I personally haven't nor will ever pay for something in-game that can be earned in time by playing the game normally.
  • @8 Fair point about the micro transactions but they are an optional extra. I've not once paid for one but will still get the free update. To get something free and complain about it like @5 did is non-sensical.
  • @6 - Yes Previous halo games had content after launch but they was new maps and not rehash of what other people have made in forge. even there own DLC maps where not even full blown maps. The warzone maps are same maps with stuff just moved. Also NEWS FLASH its free because they cant charge for this content as it should have been FREE in the first place. As how can you go 'we are releasing maps, game modes, forge, custom game modes etc... ' and then go oh its going to cost?! FACT is you cant as it was meant to be in the game in the first place. as would any gamer buy the contant they have released so far? no they would'nt as again it was in previous halo games. you cant release a stripped game and then release the contents that should be there in the first place but then say its for free and act like your doing them a favour at all. No i am not entitled, just want my moneys worth and halo 5 is not worth the full asking price as of right now. The FACT they havent boasted about sales for this game just shows how bad 343 have done with the halo brand and its clear they are trying to act like there doing the right thing.
  • @9 & 10: Well yeah, I'm neither for nor against the micro-transactions, they are simply another revenue stream for the developer. It would appear that it's generating a hefty sum for 343 to allow them to produce content of this scale and release it for free. Just like Destiny with this apparently huge spring update- I'm assuming their micro-transactions funded that development, and in turn, releasing it free of charge to the players. What that update includes? No idea...
  • Have they said if Firefight will be available solo as well? It'd be nice to have a mode to just relax, listen to some music and kill some CPU enemies.
  • no achievements = boo no postgame medals/carnage = boox2 no infection = boo BR very imbalanced = boo I have been a Halo fan for 10 years, bought this on launch day, played it 3 times and haven't touched it in months upon months. Prefer MCC despite its issues.
  • @14 Same here it all started since Halo 4 with me played that one barely as well i mean a few months and all the other from bungie almost non stop all my weekends vacations etc :p oh well still waiting for that 1080p60Fps Halo Reach DLC For master chief collection but that will never happen i guess
  • @14 I enjoyed the campaign, briefly played MP, but it burnt out quickly for me. Is this game poised to NOT get any new achievements at this point? I just don't enjoy the MP like I used to.
  • It is so weird that people came here to complain about "FREE" stuff for the game. Even if this update with the content was planned from the beginning, but only released now... so what?! If it meant that the game was released on-time instead of cramming some unpolished content just to have more to do from day-one... sounds like the right choice was made. I suppose that the people who play a new game fiercely for six weeks, then trade it in when they decide they're done might be the ones who would complain about this. Too bad! The gamers who truly love a game will keep it and get back on it when new stuff rolls out for it - or simply because they like the game and just want to play it some more (speaking of which... I still need to finish the campaign for this).
  • I am so weird. But yeah... Could we please have the firefight already? I would like to play this game for more than the six hours I have invested thus far. I can't wait until I can play firefight with solo or coop (take what I can get).
  • i love halo and i wanted to like this game but i just dont get the urge to play its not even halo its a bunch of fps ideas thrown together. i dont get the halo feel its just another brain dead fps game.
  • See I'm the complete opposite of #20. This is one of the best Halo multiplayer experiences, it couldn't feel anymore like Halo. They've managed to keep it up to date and retain the roots as the pillars are intact. The new abilities keep it fresh whilst keeping it as stated, up to date. It keeps it at an enjoyable pace. Though the only thing I dislike and many others too, is the Spartan Charge. Get that thing out and hoping it doesn't come back in Halo 6. They could do with adding a lot more maps though as it's getting stale on both Arena & Warzone. The amount of "good" maps for Arena is lacking. Don't get me started on BTB. Original maps need to come asap. Rotating 4 maps (soon to be 5?) in Warzone isn't good enough. When you've played 500+ games you simply cannot dispute that, you really can't. Firefight I'm really hoping will be good. I'll be on that as much as I can especially when my friends & team aren't on. The other thing broken about Halo 5 is going in solo matchmaking, you're just not going to have a good time. Social isn't social either, can you say invisible ranks and highest CSR in Grifball? lol
  • @11 I still don't see what you're complaining about lol yeah maybe War zone maps might be the same the arena ones are completely new and still it's free so what's to complain about would you prefer it to be 10 dollars per map pack and be fine with it or appreciate the free updates I'm at a lost with you and even if you don't play you should support this act and hope other games follow this path it's because of people like you companies changed their ways and when they do something good they are belittled for it
