Bethesda has confirmed that Fallout 4's Mods will finally be available for Xbox One next month, offering console players a host of weird and wonderful new things for the game, as created by the modding community.

"For Fallout 4, our goal was to make Mods easier and more accessible than ever before – for both the creators and the players," said Bethesda. "By building an all-new system with Bethesda.net we’ve made a huge leap forward in achieving that."

"For console players, Mods will be coming to Xbox One in May and PlayStation 4 in June. We have a lot to do yet, but we hope it changes console gaming the way it has changed PC."

We're looking forward to seeing which Fallout 4 Mods make the jump to consoles. Watch this space for more.

  • Should be interesting to see how this plays out. Hopefully no mods end up breaking the game and or consoles.
  • Want: Skimpy and Breast physics
  • Macho Man Randy Savage Deathclaw Skin mod. And Baby Launcher mod. I need these.
  • I hope they don't wait to release the Survival Mode update until then. I was hoping for it this week..
  • Using mods has been confirmed to turn off achievements, in case anyone was hoping for a Fallout 3 PC situation.
  • @5 hopefully someone can make a mod that makes it so achievements aren't disables when using mods. Or at least make it so aesthetic only mods done disable them.
  • @6 Unfortuantely the PC mods sre done by directly replacing standard files, and done so well that the game cannot knwo its a mod. On the console though, to install a mod will require activating mods in-game, as you cannot directly replace files, but tell it what parts need to be replaced. I'm hoping to see a mod that allows builds to be increased though, and for landscaping so that towns can be flattened and proper houses can be built. Also, a laser or missile outfit for the dog.
  • I wish they'd allow Mods on Xbox One's Minecraft.
  • @8 this could be a step in that direction if it goes well
  • So ANY mod voids any achievement? That sucks... What if i only wanted some updated graphics and a pipboy map? ridiculous tbh.
  • I can almost guarantee the nude character mod won't make it...or will it?
  • @11 They already said it wont. No nudity, no copyrighted content (like turning nuka cola machines into Coke machines).
  • I downloaded an update last night, around 60-80 Mb, I don't remember which. I wonder if that's the mod update.
  • I feel this is a step forward for consoles. Hope to see more games in the future add mod support
  • As someone who's always been envious of PC mods, I am really looking forward to this, and am interested exactly how it is going to work.
  • cant wait to see more deathclaws the size of skyscrapers. hope they let the community mods be as awesome as PCs
  • @5 That shouldn't come as a surprise and is hardly unexpected. I'm just happy to get the mods in any capacity. Hopefully they will be every bit as good as their PC counterpart. Man is this going to be fun!! There is just so much that can be done with them. Hopefully they don't get gimped for consoles.
  • They're obviously going to be Bethesda chosen mods and not just all the same pc mods, still it's cool.
  • I don't expect there to be any texture mods, maybe just quest mods and physics? Regardless still will add a lot of life to this game.
  • Well hopefully they can make it so certain mods will still allow you to get achievements. All I ask is for a better inventory system. (marking things as junk, scrapping things easier etc.
  • @10. WHere does it state it voids achievements?
  • @21 Every game ever released with cheat codes is a good place to start lol. Honestly, it 'should' void achievements. If they don't, MS might as well endorse an Xbox One Gameshark and let us mod and cheat to our hearts' content.
  • @22 No, cosmetic mods shouldn't void achievements but it's fine for ones that give you an advantage.
  • Hoping for IronMan paint job (or power armour replacement) and N7 style armour
  • We can't even change the look of characters without it voiding achievements, which is incredibly stupid. I definitely won't be using them.
  • just give me seasons mod and I'm good lol
  • going to wonder what mods we'll see, achievement wise got them all so no worries.
  • I don't think this is a good advancement for the Xbox One. Because for one thing why have all these mods to build all these kewl settlements with these mods and yet not be able to back up your game saves to a flash drive for a permanent backup? same thing with Minecraft why spend all this time like months creating huge worlds only to have the cloud system #@%$ing annihilate it! that's the reasons why I don't build huge settlement or even spend any time in making settlements or worlds in Minecraft or Fallout. if they gave us the option to save our games onto flash drive so we can have a permanent copy of it then I would say yes it would be a good investment for the Xbox one but until then no it's a total waste.
