Tropico 5's Waterborne expansion has hit Xbox One today; the first major add-on for the city builder game in which you can take advantage of the sea and the lucrative new opportunities it presents. As El Presidente, you'll be able to construct waterborne structures across the coast of your island paradise, bringing water traffic, larger coastal areas and new events to the table, just to keep you on your toes.

With the Waterborne DLC for Tropico 5: Penultimate Edition on Xbox One, you'll be able to build off-shore alternatives for food, energy, defence, entertainment and housing, with Oyster and Kelp farms, eco-friendly tidal power plants, military submarines, and luxurious floating apartments among the new buildings and vehicles.

As well as all of this new content, Tropico 5's Waterborne expansion also includes an all-new campaign with six new scenarios, new dialogue and story, off-shore gameplay that works with existing sandbox maps and new multiplayer modes, among other things.

You can grab the Waterborne expansion for Tropico 5: Penultimate Edition on Xbox One now for $7.99/£6.39/€7.99. Subsequent add-ons for Tropico 5 on Xbox One include 'Epic Meltdown' due to launch on 26th August, 'Espionage' on 30th September, and first expansion 'Paradise Lost', which is available now.

  • I thought the Penultimate Edition had all the DLC with it? But seems it costs extra? That sucks.
  • I really want this game. I liked 3 and 4.
  • I have never played this series, but RTS style games are right in my wheelhouse. Is this game worth a purchase?
  • @1: Penultimate literally means "next to last" so they seemingly always had more content planned.
  • Its not only that they had it planned, it was out on PC already. Theres more DLC on the way as well. I mean they already added the achievements up on release.
  • @3 I'd say it's worth a punt I must say I preferred the last tropico but it's still a solid game with a bit of humour. The learning curve can be a bit steep but watch a few tips videos and you'll be set.
