Is Warner Bros. Montreal Working On New Batman & Suicide Squad Games? - Report

Rumours abound that Warner Bros. Montreal is working on two new projects: the first is a Damian Wayne-led Batman game and the second ties into the Suicide Squad portion of the DC Universe.

NeoGAF user Kenzodielocke has been posting updates about the games on the site, and the user is known to have provided accurate information before.

According to Kenzodielocke's information, Warner Bros. Montreal is working on both games, but is calling in help from the Arkham series developer Rocksteady when it comes to the Suicide Squad game.

Here's what we know so far:

  • The Suicide Squad game is supposedly inspired by Borderlands and is a semi-open world brawler that leans heavier on co-operative play than on single player. The leak suggests you'll get many (anti)heroes to choose from - perhaps from the DC rogues gallery at large - and you will be rewarded stronger characters through tiered rewards. It's rumoured to release in 2017.

  • The Batman game will release later: it was given the go-ahead last Summer and it's only just begun production proper. It's set in a 'late' Batman timeline - Bruce is bearded and old, using a walking stick and sporting a leg harness (think Dark Knight Rises). Damian Wayne takes centre stage instead, then, and Bruce is training him to become the next Batman. Damian will supposedly use a Batbike to navigate the streets of Gotham.
    • Note that the game reportedly doesn't carry the 'Arkham' prefix, and is likely a diversion from that continuity.
    • The game is rumoured to include Poison Ivy, White Rabbit, Flamingo, Dick Grayson and a female Black Mask.

As ever with this sort of thing, take it all with a pinch of salt - it's not officially been confirmed by Warner Bros., and the source hasn't yet supplied any corroborating evidence. These rumours have been in the works for a while now, though, and seem pretty persistent.

We'll keep you updated as more information becomes available.

  • So. Much. No
  • Damien is such an unlikeable doucheface. I have zero interest in playing as him.
  • @1 and @2. Yes. To both of your comments
  • (Shakes head)
  • It'd be great to have a NightWing game, see him grow from Robin to become NightWing, there us actually huge potential I'm that story idea to create a great game. Though I'd love for there to be a green arrow game just as much, always liked the bow themed hero''s.
  • Enough of Batman games, we've got 4 already. Try some other heroes, make a decent Superman game, or give us Green Arrow etc
  • Am I the only one that wanted a sequel to Origins? Also, who's asking for more Damian? He's got to be the most hated character since Jason Todd was Robin. Poor Tim Drake...
  • @6 - no one will be able to make a decent superman game because superman sucks, and over the years his powers have changed to make him near invincible which makes him suck. Now an arrow game would be cool
  • Suicide Squad game sounds interesting but also sounds like it could be easily messed up. Batman game sounds meh.
  • Damien Wayne is one of the worst characters EVER. Make a game about Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Barbara Gordon...hell, Stephanie Brown. ANYONE but Damien Wayne.
  • I'm all for getting a Suicide Squad game
  • Please no Damien. SS game sounds weird and annoying. Superman is to overpowered to make a convincing game out of unless you take him off Earth. Green Arrow would never be able to hold a game on his own like the Arkham series. Like #7 said make a sequel to origins using the Arkham Knight map like Origins used City. Say what you will about Origins but even though it wasn't as good as Asylum & City it had a way better story than Knight and at least had some great boss battles. Besides there is so much untapped story in between Origins & Asylum. Do a story about how Batman gains his allies like Robin, Batgirl, & Harvey Dent and how it then comes apart and creates Nightwing, Oracle, Two-Face, etc. it would explain why he is so cold towards his remaing allies in the other games. Sure most die hard fans know these tales and it's been hinted at in other games but if they did it in a different way it could be awesome. Call it Arkham Allies! Oh and get Paul Dini back to write it please.
  • I wouldn't mind a Sucide Squad or Death Stroke game taking place after Arkham Origins...
  • What #7 & #12 said.
