How Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is a Whole New Deck of Cards - Video Interview

Richard Walker

It's testament to how popular The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's Gwent was that it's getting its very own fully-fledged card game, the closed beta for which is due to get underway next month. Gwent: The Witcher Card Game won't be a simple cut and paste of the game included in The Witcher 3, however. It's being completely rebuilt.

We talked to CD Projekt RED Game Director Benjamin Lee about what changes the developer has in store for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, which as it happens will be quite a lot. In fact, almost every single card has been changed in some way; just one of the many things that Lee tells us in the interview below.

There'll even be a full campaign to play through, with new stories, quests and the same voice cast as the mainline Witcher games themselves. Watch our interview to find out loads more. Gwent: The Witcher Card Game's closed beta will be kicking off on 25th October for Xbox One and PC.

  • cant wait to play against others and see if I win as often as against AI, make this an esport, gwent tournaments with poker style jackpots, yes please
  • Will definitely get this game, however I hope it doesn't turn out to rely on pure luck....also hope people can't quit a game if they start to loose
  • @2 yeah, that would be annoying. I think spy cards have been nerfed too, so that should make things a bit less luck based, lets face it, the guy with the most spy cards usually won.
