Today sees the launch of The Chinese Room's gorgeous narrative adventure (AKA walking simulator) Dear Esther: Landmark Edition for consoles, which updates the 2012 PC classic with lovely visuals and a new Directors' Commentary that lends unique insights into the game and its development.
Dear Esther transports you to a mysterious and desolate island in the outer Hebrides, with narration fleshing out the story as you make your way towards a far-off radio tower pulsing ominously in the distance. The Landmark Edition also has "respectful" achievements and trophies it says here, that don't interrupt the play experience.
"Dear Esther has been with us for eight years now, but our passion remains undiminished – and we are as excited about it now as we were the first time," says Creative Director Dan Pinchbeck. "This Landmark Edition is the culmination of the work of an extraordinary team of individuals and we’re excited to see how console players will respond."
Dear Esther: Landmark Edition is out now for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 priced $9.99/£7.99/€9.99, with a 20% discount on the game for a limited period meaning you can grab it for $7.99/£6.39/€7.99. Check out the launch trailer below, then give our review a read here.
