why is this being delistedMonday, September 26, 2016 @ 09:27 AM
@1 - can only guess it has something to do with licensing for the music.Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 09:28 AM
I think the servers will go down shortly after thats the only reason I can think of them doing this.Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 09:29 AM
Must be to do with licenced car brands. Weird though, no other big racer has been delisted to the best of my knowledge.Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 09:31 AM
@3 tons of games have their servers discontinued but remain available to purchase and play solo. Can't imagine that being the reason. @2 If it was, why not just replace the music with something generic instead of delisting the whole game?Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 09:33 AM
This is lame. There seems to be no GOTY edition that includes the DLC on a second disc. Some Forza Motorsports did that. There is a Season Pass. Everyone must download all DLC by the end date.Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 09:40 AM
Well that sucks. Imagine that happening to a movie - after four years, no one can buy it on DVD anymore, stream it via Netflix and it cannot be shown in TV either, just because the film studio decided to license the music or cars in it for only four years. That really makes video games look like a throwaway product that is depleted after the publishers are done making money with it. That makes me really, really sad.Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 09:48 AM
This isn't the first time it's happened to a game right after being a GwG either. At least they are giving warning they are delisting it which is more than we got for X-Com.Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 10:17 AM
guessing it's to do with licences for cars etc expiring and would cost more to replace them then they'd make, they did the same with forza 3 and 4 so hardly surprising.Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 11:12 AM
@transport I can imagine it quite well, as it's been going on since the beginning of home video, most famously with the a Disney Vault The licenses on these cars and music typically only go for about 5 years. I wouldn't worry about the multiplayer though.Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 12:43 PM
What about the rivals not working? This is the worst case of disrespect to the public. Even independent games don't have this kind of disregard with their customers.Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 12:48 PM
A hole new meaning to free with gold ,nothing new with Microsoft's practices.Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 12:52 PM
#7 apart from the bit where you can still buy a disc & play it.......Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 12:59 PM
#13 Aside from the DLC yeah sure...Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 01:29 PM
If they're going to delist it, why not offer the dlc for free? At least it wouldn't have such a bittersweet taste. I'm with #11, it's disrespectful, to say the least. Just after offering it as a GWG, doing this is plain shameful.Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 02:56 PM
Maybe, just maybe, Colorado might not want to be associated with street racing. Since the game takes place there. Remember how Mafia III was first announced to take place in New Orleans, being renamed later?Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 03:41 PM
season pass & vip car/pack etc have all been on sale for pennies for the first couple of weeks of the month. Guess it wouldn't hurt them to drop it again for a week before it is delisted for those that didn't grab it.Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 03:46 PM
Forza 2, 3, and 4 along with all their DLC have all been delisted from the marketplace 4 years after their release date, so anyone paying attention could guess that FH would follow the same pattern. Presumably it's how they structure their licensing deals for cars in the games.Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 04:11 PM
I don't know about everyone else, but I am SO GLAD we are getting a heads-up about this! How often has a game been pulled without notice, when many of us would have bought a game you might have been waffling about or waiting to go on sale? I, for one, am very glad that we are at least being told about this!!! That said... does buying the "Season Pass" include the "Rally Expansion Pack?" It's 20 bucks for either one, but if the pass includes that AND the cars... it's a no-brainer (I know the "1000 Club Pack" DLC is free). At this point - particularly, if the online servers will be shutdown in the near future - I'm only interested in 100% completion, not owning all the cars! Is there a time-line for when the servers would go offline?Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 04:21 PM
Incidentally... if there are people who would play this game, but only if they could 100% it - and NOT have to play Forza Motorsport 3 or 4 to do it... I may have figured-out a way to do it! I haven't played ANY of these games (except for that FH Fast & Furious game that was free a while back - THAT I liked), and I would only start Forza Horizon if I can 100% it... so I am looking into this trick to get around the need to play FM 3 or 4. I haven't tried it yet (as I need a copy of either FM 3 or 4), but when I do... I'll give it a go in the next day or two. Respond here if this is of interest to you. If it works, I'll post details in the forums for Forza Horizon! If it doesn't work... you won't see any post about it from me.Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 05:28 PM
Get ready to see the disc version of this selling for $60+ used after its gone.Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 05:57 PM
BTW... this "trick" to avoid having to play Forza Motorsport 3 or 4 to completion (if you don't like having incomplete games in your list of played games)... DOES require you to play one of those games - and it MUST be done on an Xbox 360 console (regardless of whether either are or will be BC on Xbox One). I'm 99.9% sure this will work, because I inadvertently did this before with a different game... so it "should" work!Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 07:02 PM
Don't really see the problem, the DLC was as cheap as it ever will be the other week and if you didn't buy it after getting the game for free then it's likely because you don't care that much, you can still buy the disc and play it if you really want too anywayMonday, September 26, 2016 @ 07:39 PM
@#20/#22 Restricted-Access read messages #11 and #13 here http://www.xboxachievements.com/forum/showthread.php?t=393666 We've already found the "other way"Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 07:48 PM
Always sad to see any game delisted or have its servers shut off.Tuesday, October 04, 2016 @ 05:17 PM
Does anyone know if the servers are being shut off also?? Trying to grind the MP achievements just in case!

Forza Horizon - the Xbox 360 racer - is being delisted from the Xbox Live Store next month.
Come October 20th, the game and every bit of DLC that comes with it will be delisted from the store - so if you want the backwards compatible game, now's your best chance to grab it before it's off the store for good.
If you own the game on disc or have any bit of its DLC already downloaded, you'll be able to access the content even after this date, it just means October 20th is your last chance to buy anything related to the title.
The 2012 acclaimed racer was being given out as part of the Games with Gold program by Microsoft this month, so the timing for the delisting is a little odd, but you can't predict this kind-of thing.
