inXile Entertainment has today announced that Wasteland 3 is in the works.
The post-apocalyptic RPG/strategy game had a 20-year break between the first and second instalments of the titles, but now we're seeing the announcement of a third entry in the series merely two years after the last one was released on PC.
The game will follow the story of Team November's only survivor - a squad of rangers that were sent off to Colorado, an area that has been sealed off from the outside world thanks to the nuclear winter blanketing the planet.
As such, you're tasked with setting up a new ranger base in the area, and dealing with the various factions that have popped up since Colorado went dark.
Wasteland 3 will be adding in multiplayer, too - something very different for the series so far. You can play the game's story with a friend in co-op, which will open up new locations, missions and narrative beats for you to explore.
As with previous games in the series, Wasteland will focus on vast branching stories and deep, satisfying RPG systems.
Wasteland 3’s crowdfunding campaign will launch on October 5th 2016 through Fig and is intended for simultaneous release on PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
