Titanfall 2 will be introducing a campaign to the previously multiplayer only series, and it looks like it won't just be any old half-assed attempt at simply shoehorning a single-player story into the game. Respawn has a range of influences and ideas its introducing to the game, and you can find out more about them here.

Discussing Titanfall 2's campaign mode with Single-Player Design Lead, Matthew McCandlish, we chatted about the parallels to mech fiction like classic anime Neon Genesis: Evangelion, as well as inspirations like Guillermo del Toro's mech vs. monster movie Pacific Rim, 80s retro robots the Transformers and a range of others.

We also chat about some of the key features to expect from Titanfall 2's story. Did you know there'll be some light puzzle bits? Well now you do. Discover loads more interesting tidbits in our Titanfall 2 interview below. Titanfall 2 launches for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on 28th October.

  • Okay...so...did they?
  • @1 - who knows, is it out yet?
  • There's only 1 game I care less about than Titanfall 2 and that's Infinite Warfare. This year is full of great games, why waste your time playing 2 "Copy / Paste" titles.
  • @3 - What is Titanfall 2 copy/pasting from?
  • @4 I think he means yet another wall running, boost jumping fps.
  • @ #5 Even though Titanfall did it first?
  • And even though Titanfall uses those mechanics flawlessly
  • After playing the technical test, depending on yhe fixes Respawn said they would make. Either this will be very good or the last titanfall game
