Tomorrow will see the surface of Mars and the depths of Hell looking even more inviting when DOOM's 4K resolution update arrives for Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. An effort on developer id Software's part to push the game's visuals "even further", the 4K patch will make DOOM an even more visceral experience than it was upon its initial launch in 2016.

"Every blast of the BFG, every demon glory kill and every chainsaw slice through a Mancubus can be experienced like never before on consoles," the description for the 4K update states. "Whether you’re a new player or just eager to jump back into your Praetor Suit, you’re going to want to visit Hell to experience it for yourself."

The DOOM 4K resolution update will be available for Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro on 29th March. Get the lowdown in the trailer below. Our DOOM review can also be found here.

  • Awwww Yeah.
  • Hell Yeah
  • I just got my 1X yesterday and it's been amazing so far. I can't wait to play this game again in 4k when I actually get a 4k tv.
  • This will look epic on Xbox One X.
  • Nice! Have been waiting for this one for a while :)
  • Hoping for a DOOM 2 at some point. I had a lot of fun with this one.
  • Always looking for a reason to play this again since I 100%ed the base game (multiplayer sucks). I really hope one day Doom Classic Complete (released on PS3) is brought to the X1 someday. I'd like to play Final Doom and the Master levels for the achievements.
  • @6 For sure, I'm hoping this will be announced at E3. Making a sequel to this game is a no brainer & a lot of the assets are already there, I think this could be very doable for a spring 2019 release window. It could basically be a reboot of the original Doom 2, with it taking the story to Earth.
  • Will have to give this game another playthrough! Already looked incredible, cant imagine this game at 4k. Give us elder scrolls 6 and doom 2 please!!!
