NBA Playgrounds 2 has been announced for release later this summer, delivering more outlandish basketball shenanigans, while looking to "raise the intensity" of the game's over-the-top 2-on-2 streetball action. The sequel will also include a new suite of online and local multiplayer modes, alongside new courts from a range of locations around the world.

Playgrounds Championship mode will also add a new 'worldwide ranked league system', offering several competitive solo and co-op division ladders to ascend, whereas Season mode serves up a new single-player strand that has you leading a team through a regular NBA season into the playoffs, and hopefully to an NBA Championship win. Improved matchmaking with dedicated servers is also planned, with new 4-player online matches and more.

This includes the return of three-point contests, custom matches and more, as well as a massive roster of current and retired NBA players including Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis, DeMar DeRozan, Damian Lillard, Karl-Anthony Towns, Shaquille O’Neal, Magic Johnson, Dr. J., Allen Iverson and Larry Bird.

Also featuring new power-ups, moves, improved AI, new player models and animations, NBA Playgrounds 2 will be stepping onto the hardwood in summer 2018 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC. Check out the announcement trailer below.
