Koji Igarashi has announced Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon at BitSummit 2018. This title is the "retro spinoff" game promised during the Bloodstained: Ritual of the NIght Kickstarter campaign, and will be presented in the classic 8-Bit style. Best of all, it's coming this month.

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon will feature four playable characters available to hot-swap on demand (once recruited), each with unique attacks and exploration abilities to access shortcuts. There will also be multiple endings and two difficulties: a "Casual" mode that will be more forgiving and a "Veteran" mode remiscent of the older Igavanias.

"Btattle with swords and whips in this retro-style action game brought to you by game creator Koji Igarashi and Inti Creates! Play as Zangetsu, a demon slayer bearing a deep grudge, who must travel through perilous lands to defeat a powerful demon lurking in a dark castle."
Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon will be available at no extra cost to Kickstarter backers of tiers at or above $28, or for $9.99 on its own to those who missed out on the campaign. It will be out on May 24th on just about every platform under the sun. Check out the announcement and first trailer below.

  • I'm kind of interested in this one, but I want to see more on the main game & hope that one is coming soon.
  • Looks 10 times better than the 3D game. Lol.
  • Why do 90% of the indie games have to have the retro look?! I know they ant gona have the best graphics due to cost but do they all have to look like mega drive games?
  • @3 Mega drive? No, this is NES.
  • dang I been waiting for this for so long lol Xbox make Catlevania HD backwards Compat lol
  • I am very interested in ritual of the night, but this doesnt look like it will be for me. I have nothing against indi game but this in my opinion, graphically not gameplay wise, has gone back just a tad too far, i would have much preferred a snes looking game not nes i may still try it sometime though im a sucker for anything castlevania/metroid style.
  • Awesome! I backed Bloodstained on Kickstarter. Can't wait to get my download code and play this on my XBOX One X. Love the NES look.
  • @3: You completely missed the point of this game. Also, 90% is ridiculously high. It's probably not even half, at least as far as [email protected] is concerned. I'm sure Steam has a lot more 8-bit games than us.
