Overwatch's Summer Games Event Well Underway, Check Out the New Skins

Richard Walker

Overwatch's Summer Games event is now in full swing, offering another bout of sport-based shenanigans with 50 new items to unlock in special Summer Games 2018 loot boxes, a new Lúcioball map to enjoy, and, of course, a host of new skins, including Legendary duds for Ana, Zenyatta, Reinhardt and D.Va.

All of the previous two years of Summer Games items are also available to unlock once again, in addition to all of the new stuff, which includes the Cabana Ana, Fastball Zenyatta, Gridironhardt Reinhardt, Lacrosse Roadhog, Waveracer D.Va, and Catcher Winston Legendary Skins and Mexicana Sombra, Éireannach Moira, and Tre Kronor Brigitte Epic Skins.

With three years of Summer Games-themed cosmetic items up for grabs, the total number comes to 200, while Lúcioball has undergone a transformation, enabling you to use Lúcio's Wall Ride on the new Busan Stadium playing field. The previous Sydney Harbour and Rio de Janeiro Estádio das Rãs maps also return, as does last year's Copa Lúcioball.

Summer Games 2018 is live now in Overwatch until 30th August. Check out the trailer and some of the skins in the screenshots below.

  • While I do love the Overwatch events, this one is in desperate need of an overhaul. Hammond/Wrecking Ball bowling would have been awesome, or hamster racing. I really want to see more PVE events, like the Halloween one.
  • @1 Yeah it does need a overhaul, or a new addition to Lucioball. There are cheevos tied to lucioball and if they get rid of that then they will be unobtainable. Like u said though it needs at least something else to go along with the current event.
  • @1 They've mentioned more than once that as of now they aren't planning on adding more events. But instead refining the events they have. So I, like you, am also wondering where the refinement is. Honestly, the only events I enjoy are the PvE ones. Lucioball, Yeti Hunter and Mei's snowball I played to get the achievements, or to get quick arcade wins. Junkenstein and Retribution have definitely been my favorite events and would love to see variety coming to those. Or even uprising. Though I don't find that mode quite as fun. To much standing around defending.
