Never properly played one of these games, would be nice to see one available on the 360.Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 01:30 PM
This is the best news I've had all day maybe all year, Onimusha is one of my favorite series' of all time. I can't wait for a new one. Hopefully it still has Samanosuke.Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 01:28 PM
Remeber the Mgs:Rising teaser that was showing on the Kojima site, right before E3 and everyone said it was Gray Fox because the Raiden shown in the teaser had a deferent eye color to the one he has in MGS4.Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 01:34 PM
Never played one. But somewhat interested. :DWednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 01:37 PM

I only remember playing this on the Dreamcast, but it was far ahead of it's time. A great game.Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 01:52 PM
Hoping. LOved the old ones. Give.Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 01:53 PM
Isn't this likely to be a Sony exclusive ?Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 01:55 PM
Love the Onimusha series. Would kill for one on the 360.Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 01:57 PM

Onimusha was one of my favorite PS2 games and would be a welcomed edition to my 360 collection. Now if we could just get a new SSX!Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 01:45 PM
This by far was one of my favorite games of all time. Can't wait!Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 02:05 PM
About time I've been wondering for the last year or so when a new Onimusha was coming out. I hope its like the fist one... the third on just seemed like the story was spinning off into stupidness... so I never played 4 but will def play this one if it makes it to the 360Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 02:21 PM
make dead rising 2 alreadyWednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 02:31 PM
I love Onimusha! Capcom will make my day when they release a next gen versionWednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 02:38 PM
#17 its out in septemberWednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 02:44 PM
1600 would make sense. It was a very important year for what the games are loosely based on.Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 03:16 PM
I want this game!Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 03:11 PM
I was just thinking about this the other day as I picked up my old copy of Onimusha 3. The first one I played and it was very enjoyable, like old school Resident Evil with swords. Which actually leads me to think they'll rehaul the whole thing just like with Resi 4&5. And now I'm very nervous. Oh shit....Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 03:24 PM
I only played the Onimusha fighting game for PS2 and I really enjoyed it. I have not played an Onimusha proper game but I would definitely be interested in a new one.Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 03:24 PM
Please don't be a PS3 exclusive, loved these games.Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 03:29 PM
i got the 1st one when the ps2's came out and liked the franchise ever since. can't wait to see it this-genWednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 03:27 PM
judging by capcoms recent release trend i wouldnt expect it to be a PS3 exclusive, but even if it is it would prob be a timed exclusive. either way it would be great to play another Onimusha title, what i got to play of Oni 2 and 3 was brilliant fun so fingers crossed.Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 03:20 PM
# 21 .. now I'm excited !!!Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 03:50 PM
If Onimusha comes out on the 360, I hope it's not weighed down by being a Ninja Gaiden 2 and/or Devil May Cry 4 style clone. Something about the complexity of the combos and such in those games really would remove a lot of the Onimusha charm factor.Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 03:54 PM
If this is true,to me Onimusha will be better than Gears & halo. Onimusha is HUGE! The last i think was "dawn of dreams" which had 2 game discs.Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 01:48 PM
i loved the 2nd twas awesome :DWednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 04:18 PM
http://www.capcom.co.jp/basara/ This is not Onimusha. Perhaps, its new Sengoku Basara(Devil Kings).Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 04:50 PM
@ #31....you are right it’s for Basara: Battle Heroes, I read on it also...the Americian title is Devil Kings (I think)...this would be the second one if it comes to the U.S.Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 05:03 PM
WOW! NO kidding where did this franchise wonder off to? 1st day purchase!Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 05:31 PM
It was already established that it's for Sengoku Basara last week since a link was to a Sengoku Basara game. This may be the 3rd or 4th one in JapanWednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 05:53 PM
I hope it is as onimusha 4 was a woefully underrated game and ive been far too long without a decent capcom fix...cough..resident evil5..cough!Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 06:03 PM
Onimusha? Meh. I'd play it if they remade all of them in a set a la Devil May Cry. Too hard to track down all the prior games just to get caught up in the story. I'm still waiting for a friggin' Fatal Frame collection.Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 06:05 PM
u can get all 3 onimusha games inone package thats how i brought all3 medal of honor and devilmaycry 123.Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 07:08 PM
Why can't Capcom just announce BOF6???Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 08:04 PM
The last Onimusha game i played was the latest one on the Ps2 and that was good.Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 09:57 PM
Loves me some Onimusha!!Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 11:16 PM
Onimusha Dawn of Dreams was left with somewhat of a cliffhanger ending to it.. so I would love a sequel to that game.. in my opinion was the best Onimusha game of them all.Wednesday, July 01, 2009 @ 11:21 PM
@ Dave: Onimusha wasn't on Dreamcast :p Onimusha games are epic, I played 1 & 2 to death, but never did play 3 for some reason. 4 on 360 would be epic.Thursday, July 02, 2009 @ 12:01 AM
Fuck Onimusha & Release Monster Hunter!!!!!Thursday, July 02, 2009 @ 12:31 AM
Hmmm if this is true I'll have to quickly track down Onimusha 2, 3, and 4 and play and beat them before attempting Onimusha 5 but from the looks of it ya. . . .its another Devil Kings game. . . .*sigh*Thursday, July 02, 2009 @ 12:36 AM
yup definatlly Devil Kings theres only 4 numbers for Christ's sake (and this is supose to be the 5th game). . . .so much hyped destroyedThursday, July 02, 2009 @ 02:57 AM
Played the first 3, and it truly is a great series. I would love to see CAPCOM bring it to the 360, and with the way things have been moving the past couple years, I wouldn't see why not.Thursday, July 02, 2009 @ 03:03 AM
The original Onimusha game was the first game I got for the PS2 and at the time I was blown away by the graphics. A new game for the 360 would be brilliant but from reading the posts above it seems unlikely at the moment.Thursday, July 02, 2009 @ 03:32 AM
Onimusha is the worst series Capcom ever made...what they need to do is make proper survival horror games again, that have a proper story and the ability to actually scare you. Looks like Alan Wake might be the next game to do that...Thursday, July 02, 2009 @ 05:44 AM
It's not Onimusha, it's a new Sengoku Basara (Devil King)... I'm disapointed :/Thursday, July 02, 2009 @ 07:05 AM
Bout time, I got so pissed when Capcom made their last announcement. Screw Lost Planet 2, I was so hoping for this.Thursday, July 02, 2009 @ 07:10 AM
Its the new devil king game, hopefully it's good XD.Friday, July 03, 2009 @ 04:04 AM
The answer is revealed. It is Sengoku Basara 3. It will be released at 2010.Sunday, July 05, 2009 @ 05:16 AM
Juuuuubeeeeeeiiii lol.... still quote that for some reason :S No. 2 was awesome... then ther was the one with jean reno... all classics lol

A page on the Capcom Japan site a few weeks back was brought to my attention. Back then all that existed was a number in the middle of the screen: 1560. My first thought was ... the original Onimusha was set in 1560, but I put it down to my over active imagination.
Since then three more numbers have appeared; 1573, 1582 and now 1600. Low and behold, some of those numbers correspond to the subsequent Onimusha titles.
Onimusha 2 took place in 1573 and Onimusha 3 took place in 1582. The latest date seems to break the pattern as Onimusha 4 was set in 1597. So could 1600 be the setting for Onimusha 5?
Seems a little too coincidental to me that the dates correspond with one another. And the Onimusha series has spent too much time out of the spotlight considering how lucrative its been for Capcom over the years.
Whilst this isn't an out and out confirmation, and we don't know when the next clue will appear, but we can sense an Onimusha rumbling in the Capcom camp some time in the not too distant future.
