Jade Empire could be making a long-awaited comeback, if a new trademark submitted by EA is any kind of an indication. BioWare's martial arts-based RPG franchise has been on ice since its release for Xbox and PC in 2005, with the Canadian developer favouring Dragon Age and Mass Effect.
EA submitted the trademark application last week, and while we're hoping that a new Jade Empire game could be in the offing, it could be that the publisher is simply maintaining the intellectual property rights to the game. After all, the game is currently playable on Xbox One thanks to backward compatibility.
It's one of several trademarks that EA has recently filed, including Respawn's upcoming Apex Legends, a battle royale title apparently based within the Titanfall universe. That's due to be revealed later today. As for Jade Empire, the jury's out on whether a new instalment could be on the cards.
For the time being, BioWare has its hands full with Anthem, which enjoyed its public demo this weekend. Anthem launches in full on 22nd February.
