Turtle Rock Studios, the developer behind Left 4 Dead and Evolve, has announced 'Back 4 Blood', it's new co-op zombie shooter that's being built from the ground-up as a "an original, premium title" that combines what made Left 4 Dead so successful with "new features and state-of-the-art technology".

"We are not resting on any past laurels. Our goal is to take all we’ve learned and push forward. We know that’s a tall order," said Turtle Rock co-founder and Creative Director Phil Robb. "We’re growing the team considerably because we’re stepping up to the biggest challenge in this studio’s history. We know this title has to stand out and we fully intend to make that happen."

It's early days for Back 4 Blood at present, with hide nor hair of a screenshot or trailer, but Turtle Rock does state that it's looking to return to its Left 4 Dead roots, which is evident in the game's title. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will also be on publishing duties for Back 4 Blood, which is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

  • Colour me interested
  • I really dont think it does have to stand out. The market is clearly in dire need of a good left 4 dead-esque game, and who better to fill the void than the original creators? Especially with so many shitty attempts out there (Earthfall for instance).
  • @2 Killing Floor 2 is a good one if you missed it.
  • @3 Killing Floor 2, to me, feels like an upgraded CoD Zombies on crack. Never gave off the L4D vibe. I know World War Z is trying to be a L4D-type game, but I dont think it'll catch on (which sucks because I was excited until they announced the pvp)
  • Hell yeah! Looking forward to this one!!
  • Owww. Interesting, if they stick to the winning formula from the L4D series then that's a day one purchase from me :-)
  • Vermintide 2 has been scratching my L4D itch. Probably my favorite game of 2018.
  • There is G.T.F.O. that could fill the 4 player co-op game soon. Game look awesome for a small studio. It is currently planned for PC-Only but if the game launch well, console version will come. Soo if you got a PC I highly recommend you check that game too! It won't requiere high-end tech too.
  • I'd love a L4D3. They could stick to the same formula and I'd be happy.
  • @9 It will never happen. Valve STILL can't count to 3.
  • @10 Valve doesn't do anything anymore. They don't even moderate steam, unless something makes it into the news.
  • I hope they put local co-op in this.
