Borderlands 3 Interview: "No Other Looter Shooter Hits the Same Irreverence and Humour"

Richard Walker

Since exploding onto the scene back in 2009, Borderlands has carved itself a niche in a crowded genre of shooters, thanks to its unique art style and trademark unhinged, offbeat comical bits. All of that is back in abundance for Borderlands 3, you'll (probably) be happy to know.

According to Creative Director Paul Sage, no other looter shooter quite manages to deliver the level of irreverence and humour that Borderlands does, and looking back at the Borderlands 1 and 2, The Pre-Sequel, and Tales From the Borderlands, it's hard to disagree with him. It's certainly funnier than The Division.

During the reveal event in Los Angeles, we had a chat with Sage about all things Borderlands 3, finding out more about the series' unique selling point, and so much more. You can check out the full interview below, and give our hands-on impressions a read (with Amara gameplay) here.

Borderlands 3 is out on 13th September for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. You'll also find gameplay featuring new Operative Vault Hunter Zane here.

  • So is the next article going to be about how no other looter-shooter has the same cel-shaded graphics? Or maybe how no other looter-shooter has Claptraps in it? Stating the obvious is now a "selling point", I guess...
