THQ Nordic, as the owner of Koch Media, has offered another confirmation that Dead Island 2 is still in development and will eventually materialise at some point. This follows an update last July that, yes, Dead Island 2 is still happening, and one the year before that also stating that the game is on the cards despite a protracted wait.
Confirmed during an investor presentation last night, THQ Nordic CEO Lars Wingfors noted that Dead Island 2 will form part of its release schedule for the near future, with the publisher stating that it has something in the region of 50+ titles in development. Yes, fifty.
Currently, Team Sonic Racing and Crackdown 3 developer Sumo Digital is in the frame for Dead Island 2, developing the game following Yager being pulled from the project and differences that saw Techland breaking out on its own to make the Dying Light games. Wingfors signed off, telling investors to "stay tuned" for further info on Dead Island 2.
Originally announced back in 2014, Dead Island 2 has been a long time coming, and we even went hands-on with a build during Gamescom that year. Will we be seeing Dead Island 2 before the current generation is over? Who knows.
