FromSoftware and George R.R. Martin Project 'Elden Ring' Leaks

Increasingly, it's looking like there might be no surprises left for E3 itself this year, as yet another leak has outed three Bandai Namco games lined up for the show, including the rumoured collaboration between Dark Souls developer From Software and 'A Song of Ice and Fire' (better known as Game of Thrones) author George R.R. Martin.

The title of the project is reportedly 'Elden Ring', and even comes with a logo and description to back it up. It reads as follows:

"Elden Ring, developed by FromSoftware, Inc. and Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc., is a fantasy action-RPG adventure set within a world created by Hidetaka Miyazaki - creator of the influential Dark Souls video game series; and George R.R. Martin - author of The New York Times best-selling fantasy series, A Song of Ice and Fire. Danger and discovery lurk around every corner in FromSoftware’s largest game to-date. Hidetaka Miyazaki, President and Game Director of FromSoftware Inc. known for directing critically-acclaimed games in beloved franchises including Armored Core, Dark Souls, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice..."

And there the description ends. Could Elden Ring be the mooted FromSoftware x George R.R. Martin game then? It certainly looks like it. This info arrives alongside two other Bandai Namco leaks, including a potential Ni no Kuni: The Wrath of the White Witch remaster for PS4 and PC (strangely, no Xbox One version is mentioned), and a new entry in the Tales of... JRPG series.

Titled Tales of Arise, this latest instalment in the storied JRPG franchise is reportedly slated for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, making this the first Tales of game for Xbox in quite some time. We'll find out more, including some official announcements (and hopefully some unexpected stuff) during E3 from 9th June. Oh, god. That's tomorrow. Help.

  • I love RPGS and studio ghibli but ni no Kuni is such overrated crap, crap story, crap gameplay, terrible characters, it just looks nice, if studio ghibli werent envolved, everyone would admit it isn't very good as far as rpgs go.
  • Honestly not too fussed about the FromSoftware project, but a new Tales has me super excited. There's a few screenshots floating around out there that look beautiful. Oddly #1, you're probably the first person I've seen who didn't like NNK. I hope the leak was just missing some info and that does come to Xbox. Microsoft has had a great relationship with Namco the past two years, lots of their stuff shown on our stage at E3, so it would be weird to miss out on that.
  • @#2 I tried to post a long description of why I didn't like it but it wouldn't let me lol I love studio ghibli and level 5 and RPGS in general but everything about this game was disappointing, maybe I was just too hyped for it.
  • Never watched or read any ASOIAF, but i'm hoping this new From Software project ends up being better than Sekiro was. The leaks all sound promising, but so did Sekiro before release. Love the Tales series and will always be hyped for new ones, but looking at the leaked screenshots have me worried that they're going take it in a FFXV direction, and I don't want that at all.
  • Interested in ALL of this. All of these titles sound interesting and I would enjoy the remaster even if it doesn't come to Xbox One. I'm still pretty angry about the future of gaming concerning the closure and removal of all the Telltale Games though, what should we expect for the future? Will we just keep moving forward never owning anything we purchase anymore? How am I supposed to convince myself to buy games if I won't have anything to pass down to my kid(s) one day like my grandfather and father did before me? It's quite frustrating.
  • I'm just waiting for some footage of Legacy of Goku 2019. Or whatever they are gonna call it.
  • Would do anything for a Lost Kingdoms revisit, I don't know why it was hated so much?
  • First impression of that logo feels "witchcraft-y" to me - like Melisandre from GoT kind of witchcraft.
  • Loved the first Ni No Kuni. The second one....not so much.
