Microsoft and 343 Industries have announced during last night's X019 event that the upscsaled version of Halo Reach coming to Halo: The Master Chief Collection will finally arrive on the 3rd of December.

Featuring improvements and refreshments including 4K textures to take advantage of the Xbox One X, Halo Reach will also see a bunch of tweaks made to the main collection. From today, all purchases of Halo: The Master Chief Collection via standard purchase or Xbox Game Pass will include Halo Reach on the day of its release, as well as the entire Halo 3: ODST campaign which was previously only available as a premium add on.

The multiplayer components of the Halo Reach package, which includes PvP, Forge and Theater mode, will be made available as a free update to all existing Halo: The Master Chief Collection owners, while the campaign and Firefight modes will require a $9.99 purchase available in the in-game menu and via the Microsoft Store. Check out the trailer announcing the news below.

  • Already preordered on Steam, can't wait
  • Can they not just release it as a separate game? You don't even play as Master Chief on Reach. Same should have applied to ODST. I really don't want this affecting my MCC completion :(
  • @2 You don’t play as him for half of Halo 2. I could be a pedantic bastard and say technically you can not play as him in Halo 3 as well. Screw the name, I think it’s great we’re finally going to have a full collection of the classic Halo games (and Halo 4) in one place on the Xbone. And the increase in framerate and quality is an amazing bonus. Can’t wait to hop back into Reach
  • one of my prouder achievements was beating reach solo on legendary...I am ready to try it again
  • Can't wait, already preordered on Steam
  • @2 agreed; ODST was given as a apology for the broken launch so I was okay with it. But this really should be seperate. After year 2 I don't like achievements being added to a game
  • @2 if your a halo fan you would play it anyway whether its part of the MCC or not so i don't see what the problem is especially considering its one of the best games in the series.
  • May as well put Halo 5 on there too. This time with split-screen.
