Leaked Elden Ring Details Suggest Open World That "Lives and Breathes"

FromSoftware's upcoming Elden Ring will apparently feature a dynamic open world that "lives and breathes" according to a leak spotted on Resetera. As such, you can reportedly expect a day/night cycle, dynamic weather, various wildlife, and emergent enemy encounters.

The leaked info alleges that Elden Ring will offer "freedom of choice in direction and how to approach a situation," albeit in a similar vein to the twisted gothic fantasy of From's Dark Souls games. While the dynamic open-world elements mooted for Elden Ring in this leak are nothing new, it would be the first time this sort of thing appeared in a FromSoftware game.

"Dynamic day/night cycles, lighting, weather, I’ll even throw you a bone and say wildlife, enemies out in the open world that change their positioning, both big and small," Reddit user Omnipotent claims. "Things that make the world feel like it lives and breathes and doesn’t just exist as your playground and while they’re relatively minor when looked at as singular elements. You start to take all of these elements and put them together and ultimately what you have is something that again, shares the same DNA as past games, but culminates into something different."

While director Hidetaka Miyazaki states that Elden Ring will hew close to the Dark Souls formula in gameplay terms, the upcoming game will also build upon the foundations of From's previous games. A collaboration between FromSoftware and Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin, Elden Ring has yet to be given a release date, and it's been a while since we've heard anything about the game.Hopefully, we'll get some more details soon.

  • I need so much info about this game... I need this now. I need more soulsy gamesss
  • @1 I feel the same way. I love the other games From Software has made. Hopefully this lives up the greatness that Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro previously achieved. :)
