Xbox Series X Logo Revealed in Trademark Filing

The official logo for the Xbox Series X appears to have been revealed via a trademark filing from Microsoft, and it certainly is a logo alright.

Found via Justia Trademarks, the trademark application was filed on 16th April and was surfaced on Reddit earlier today. It's a bit of a strange one, since it appeared that we already had a logo for the upcoming next gen console - Microsoft doesn't usually shorten the console's name down like Sony do (with logos for both PlayStation 3 and PS3, for example) and instead uses the console's full name in their marketing, which we have seen for Xbox Series X as per the below image.

It's possible this new branding may be used to help differentiate between the confirmed Xbox Series X and the rumoured Xbox Series S, or that it may be used on official Xbox Series X merchandise. We'll have to wait a little longer to find out, although Microsoft is believed to be holding an Xbox Series X reveal event next month - maybe we'll see this there?

Xbox Series X is due to launch Holiday 2020.

  • It reminds me of the ad Marvel made for the Age of Apocalypse comic arc. "The End, Because there never was a beginning."
  • Damn, personally i don't like it, its too minimalistic, i really don't think the "less is more" approach applies here. i guess as you said though, it would help avoid confusion, but it seems so basic.
  • They wouldn't have this problem if they knew how to name consoles properly.
  • Got to be honest... that's pretty bland. I was expecting better, something that at least looked interesting...
  • I like it. Simplistic, yet says it all.
  • @3, Spot on... Microsoft fails at naming consoles and only further confuses the customer if they're not a gamer when they do things like, Xbox One, One S, One X, One SAD, and now the Series X.
  • @3 & @6 FAKE NEWS!!!! Ppl are fine with the getting what they want with the names, even non-gamers. I own a game store and ppl just refer to current gen as "XBOX" and "PLAYSTATION". Babies online crying about confusing names need to snap out of it. WORRY ABOUT YOURSELF and not the average consumer. They will be fine!! Too many crying neckbeards with RED HAIR always crying.
  • @3 they have to use non-sequential names because some people would see Xbox 4 and PS5 on the shelf, assume PS5 is newer than Xbox 4 and purchase that way.
  • @7, Breathe... Inhale... Exhale... Good... Good... Everything is going to be alright.
