There will be no WWE 2K game releasing this year, according to WWE's chief financial officer.
Neither 2K or their parent company is yet to make an official statement on this year's entry into the WWE 2K series, and it seems that World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. has beaten them to a punch. As part of WWE's most recent investor call, Interim Chief Financial Officer Frank Riddick responded to a question of the release of WWE 2K21, stating "there's not going to be a launch of a game this year."
This seems to confirm the rumours from earlier this month that suggested the series would be skipping a yearly entry, as WWE 2K20 failed to live up to expectations "both in terms of sales and quality". The game launched full of bugs and glitches, resulting in some blowback from fans, possibly as a result of the series changing developer from series stalwarts Yuke's to support studio Visual Concepts.
WWE 2K20 is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
