Originally set for launch later this year, Kerbal Space Program 2 is now due to blast off in 'fall 2021', Private Division and developer Star Theory have announced. The delay is down to development issues, caused by COVID-19, the publisher and studio confirmed in a message on Twitter.

"We are making a big, expansive game loaded with new features, but doing so will take longer than previously anticipated," the message reads. "With everything going on in the world today due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we're facing many unique challenges that require more time to safely iterate, create, test and make KSP2 as great as it can be."

While the delay of Kerbal Space Program 2 isn't particularly welcome news, you can at least tide yourself over with the upcoming free 'Shared Horizons' update coming to the first Kerbal Space Program this year, adding new content in partnership with the European Space Agency.

Kerbal Space Program 2 will now be arriving on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in autumn 2021.
