V1 Interactive and Private Division have released the launch trailer for Disintegration, offering a brief glimpse at the upcoming first-person shooter's story, ahead of its release next week. Coming from the studio formed by Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto, Disintegration is set on a future Earth, where mankind is on the brink of extinction.

Climate extremes, overpopulation, food shortages, and a global pandemic have resulted in nations collapsing (this is the plot for a game, despite sounding like it could be today's news), leading humankind towards the edge of being completely wiped out. Scientists have discovered a way to transfer a human brain to a robotic body, in what was meant to be a temporary solution to save the human race.

Known as Integration, this process enables a human brain to be surgically encased within a mechanical armature, and you play as Romer, one such Integrated robot/human whose mission it is to lead a group of Outlaws who have decided to fight for survival, in the hope that they'll one day become human once more.

Disintegration will be coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on 16th June. Check out the launch trailer below and keep your eyes peeled for a review soon.

  • So if I want to watch a trailer I need to see an advert take up roughly 20% of the screen!?!?
