DIRT 5 Gives Us Our First In-Depth Look at Captured Xbox Series X Gameplay

While we've seen Xbox Series X gameplay directly from Microsoft or other game publishers before, today brings our first look at media-captured Xbox Series X footage with DIRT 5.

While many of the media outlets with access to an Xbox Series X console have put out videos today showing off Codemasters' next-gen title, we're looking at Digital Foundry's analysis here, as they have gone in-depth on all three performance modes that DIRT 5 offers, including an exciting 120FPS option.

Image Quality mode employs a dynamic resolution that more-or-less sticks at a full 4K/60FPS with the best settings turned on, including more detailed shadows and larger crowds. The Frame Rate mode also goes for 4K/60FPS, but with a more varied dynamic resolution and slightly lower settings to ensure it never dips below 60FPS. Finally, the 120Hz mode doubles the framerate to 120FPS, with image quality settings reduced slightly further and still running at a dynamic 4K if your TV supports HDMI 2.1 - if not, you'll have to take a big hit in resolution to make this work.

Overall, it's an impressive look at one of our first Xbox Series X titles, and it's good to see the variety of options players are given, although if you're not watching on a 4K TV or monitor it might be hard to really see the next-gen jump. Still, it's worth checking out for the analysis as well down below.

Xbox Series X releases alongside DIRT 5 on 10th November 2020.
