The Callisto Protocol, the upcoming sci-fi survival horror game from former Dead Space developers, has received an extended “Red Band” version of last week's cinematic reveal trailer.

There may only be 26 seconds of extra footage, but what is new is pretty gory in a gross, body horror kind of thing, and definitely gives of vibes of The Thing and, of course, Dead Space. A new scene at the end of the trailer also gives us a better idea of the enemies that we assume players will be facing off against, and again, it feels very “necromorph” which we're all for, quite frankly.

The game is being developed by Striking Distance Studios, headed up by Dead Space creator Glen Schofield, who has confirmed that the game somehow takes place in the PUBG universe. Battle royale haters have nothing to fear though, as The Callisto Protocol will be a next-gen single player sci-fi survival horror game through and through, regardless of the universe it's set in.

You can check out the new extended trailer down below, and if all this talk about Dead Space has got you misty eyed and nostalgic for the twelve year old game, you can check out our feature looking back at Dead Space as a franchise here.

The Callisto Protocol is coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC in 2022.
