Elden Ring Gets a Blurry Leaked Trailer, Rumours Suggest 2022 Release

We've been sat back watching the internet going mad for a horribly blurry Elden Ring trailer today, in the vain hope that Bandai Namco might actually release the official video in a watchable resolution. But without that forthcoming, it's currently the only recent glimpse we've had of FromSoftware's next one since the game was first announced almost two years ago.

Apparently, the dodgy over the shoulder off-screen footage is taken from a month-old trailer, but is entirely legitimate, according to a reliable source. "I can only imagine what drives you to seek the Elden Ring," a voice intones during the trailer (spied by VGC). "I suppose you can't be talked into turning back. Very well then!"

With the trailer doing the rounds, sources also reporting to VGC suggest that development on Elden Ring has been ‚Äúsignificantly disrupted‚ÄĚ by the COVID-19 pandemic, which may also go some way to explaining the game's ongoing absence and a complete lack of official details. It could be that Elden Ring won't release until 2022, if sources are to be believed.

A collaboration between Dark Souls developer FromSoftware and Game of Thrones author Geroge R.R. Martin, with director Hidetaka Miyazaki at the helm, Elden Ring sounds like it could be highly ambitious fantasy fare, but with a dearth of updates on the game, fans are understandably starting to get a bit antsy.

Hopefully we'll hear something more tangible on Elden Ring soon. Until then, you can watch a tiny snippet of the low-res leaked video here.

  • GRRM finding anything to do other than finish his books...
  • wow, it's like Halo Infinity 2.0...all this stuff seems contrived to me. devs release a trailer and gamers go nuts demanding something better...and poof! the devs get an instant one-year delay and they're off the hook because it was the gamers' idea. brilliant.
  • I dunno, maybe it's just me and/or the blurry video, but it looked an awful lot like recent Assassin's Creed games...
