20th Century Studios and developer Cold Iron have unveiled Aliens: Fireteam, its upcoming third-person co-op survival shooter for up to three players, in which you're tasked with fending off hordes of Xenomorphs in what promises to be another frenetic bug hunt, across four campaigns.

Set 23 years after the original Alien trilogy, Fireteam sees you play as a squad of Colonial Marines trapped aboard the USS Endeavor, battling 20 different enemy types, including 11 Xenomorphs from Facehuggers to Praetorians. Each will have its own intelligence, enabling them to “ambush, outsmart, and eviscerate” you and your squad, so you'll need to adapt as the situation and your fight for survival grows increasingly desperate.

Boasting five different classes to choose from, including Gunner, Demolisher, Technician, Doc, and Recon, each character will have their own abilities and perks, with more than 30 weapons to choose from and 70+ mods and attachments to deck yourself out with. You can take a first look at Aliens: Fireteam in the announcement trailer below.

Aliens: Fireteam will be coming out of the goddamn walls on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC in summer 2021. Here's hoping that it's considerably better than Aliens: Colonial Marines, eh?

  • I enjoyed the survival mode in AVP so hopefully (although skeptical) this can be a more in depth game
  • Wow, I'm pumped for this. Absolutely love the alien franchise
  • Might be good but local coop could make it great.
  • Getting a distinctly WWZ vibe from this, which ended up being a great co-op shootier so I'll stay cautiously optimistic for this.
  • I'll also stay cautiously optimistic. At least Randy Pitchford isn't involved with this one.
  • Another co-op shooter?...ugh. This would be amazing as a Gears type 3rd person shooter with a cool Aliens story and big action set pieces! Then throw in some multiplayer for after you finish the story. Instead we get another Predator Hunting Grounds. As a huge fan of Aliens I'll keep an eye on it, but my expectations are low.
  • Mmmm I will wait, I ain't falling for a colonial marines game again!
