Originally released in August of last year, Mortal Shell proved a surprisingly solid and enjoyable Soulslike, with more than a few neat twists and ideas of its own. So, naturally, we jumped at the chance to take the new Mortal Shell: Enhanced Edition for a spin to see what the next-gen enhancements bring to developer Cold Symmetry's action RPG.
On Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, Mortal Shell benefits from 4K resolution at a stable 60 frames per second, in addition to improved textures. Described as the “uncompromised” and “superior” version of Mortal Shell, it certainly sounds like the updated next-gen iteration is deserving of its Enhanced Edition suffix, but we thought we'd put it to the test anyway.
Take a look at our comparison video below to see how Mortal Shell: Enhanced Edition shapes up on Xbox Series X versus the original Xbox One S and Xbox One X versions of the game. Mortal Shell: Enhanced Edition is out now for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, also available as a free upgrade for existing owners. You can check out our Mortal Shell review here.
