The upcoming Borderlands movie helmed by Eli Roth has added another actor to its cast, recruiting Janina Gavankar to a role as a new character. As well as playing Iden Versio in the campaign for Star Wars Battlefront II, Gavankar has also starred in The Way Back and The Morning Show, and in the Borderlands film, she'll play Commander Knoxx.

Presumably related to Borderlands' General Knoxx, Gavankar's Commander Knoxx will play a key part in the film, alongside Cate Blanchett's Lilith, Kevin Hart as Roland, Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis, Ariana Greenblatt's Tiny Tina, and Jack Black as Claptrap. Florian Munteanu will also play Krieg, with Edgar Ramirez as Atlas.

“If you know me, you know that this movie will be a lot more than just another gig for me,” Gavankar stated on Twitter following the announcement via Deadline. “I’ll be carrying every writer, dev, voice actor, and gamer that has worked on and played Borderlands, in my heart, as I head to Pandora.”

Borderlands is currently filming and has yet to be given a release date.

  • I predict that this movie is going to be awful.
  • oh please, just keep those movie theatres closed a little longer...
  • Just keeps getting worse and worse. They’re really banking on people wanting to see Kevin hart but he always just gives me a headache.
  • At least they're keeping the tradition of video game movies being utter dogshit alive... But seriously there's miscasting then there's picking someone who's the literal opposite, from an old white man to a young indian woman...
  • Ah, ignore that last part misread. It's not General Knoxx. Movies still looking awful though lol.
