SnowRunner is expanding with Season 4: New Frontiers next week, adding a large new region to the game along with plenty of additional content.

The Russian Amur Oblast region is described as “enormous”, offering 12 square kilometres across four maps, with plenty of tough Russian wilderness to explore an overcome. The main objective is to help fix up an old abandoned rocket launch site for a private rocket company, and this is no mean feat. You'll have to patch up roads, repair fuel lines, construct housing and assist in building up mission control, ready for a new launch.

The new season also brings with it two new vehicles to help you overcome these challenges - the ZiKZ 605-R and the Khan 317 Sentinel scout vehicle - both available to Season Pass and Premium Edition owners along with the rest of the Season 4 content.

You can get a better look at what to expect when Season 4: New Frontiers launches on 18th May 2021 in the new trailer down below. SnowRunner is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

  • I loved Snowrunner. I enjoyed getting all the achievements, even though the game often felt less challenging than Mudrunner, I kept at it like a fiend, grinding every last thing to completion. But I’ve only dipped my toe into the DLC, because without achievements, I don’t feel like doing more of the same is as rewarding without something to work towards. They’ve added some great and challenging new mechanics to the game via the expansions, like limited resource management, but I just don’t care to delve into them. Which is a shame, really. But my backlog is so large I just can’t commit to it unless someone else wanted to play it co-op. Which none of my friends do.
  • I'm in the same boat. I love the game and smashed the base version with all achievements when it first released. However, despite the obvious quality of the season pass maps and additions, I just can't motivate myself to trawl through them. And I think the lack of achievements is the reason. Perhaps this last big expansion will have them finally add some new ones...fingers crossed!
