Square Enix and Eidos-Montréal’s messaging for the recently announced Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is crystal clear: there will be no microtransactions and the game will be receiving no DLC. What you see is what you get, folks. Thankfully.

“There isn’t going to be any DLC for this game, there isn’t going to be any microtransactions,” declared Mary Demarle, Executive Narrative Director at Eidos-Montréal, when showing the game to the press this week in the run up to E3.

“That’s because, for us, it’s very important on day one, when players get this game, they can have access to everything there is about this game and to experience it,” Demarle clarified.

The straight-to-the-point messaging is no doubt a result of the messy reception to the recent Marvel’s Avengers game, developed by Crystal Dynamics, but published by Eidos-Montréal owner, Square Enix.

“Right off the bat, they can get all of the costumes or outfits that are available. They can find all the abilities as they progress through the game. It’s all there,” Demarle added.

So there you have it, folks, it doesn’t get any more crystal clear than that: no DLC, no microtransactions. Nada. Nothing. Nuffin’. That said, I wonder how the game will tackle the pre-order skins that they’ve already touted…

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is out on 26th October 2021 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC.
