Ubisoft has released a new tech showcase for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which will be making use of a new iteration of developer Massive Entertainment's Snowdrop engine, last seen in the studio's The Division games, for a first-person action-adventure.
With its two Tom Clancy titles, Massive brought an urban post-apocalypse to life, but for its Avatar game, it'll be rendering the lush open world of Pandora, collaborating with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney for an ambitious foray into James Cameron's sci-fi universe.
Using Snowdrop's micro-detail system, Frontiers of Pandora will feature remarkably detailed foliage, managing to render and process more objects than ever within each frame. Intelligent plants and wind systems, volumetric clouds, and other details like NPCs who react to the state of Pandora also aim to make Massive's Avatar title all the more immersive.
You can check out what the Snowdrop engine will be bringing to Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, when it launches exclusively on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Luna, and PC in 2022.
