Bloober Team, developer of horror titles Layers of Fear and The Medium, has announced a new partnership with Japanese publisher Konami, sparking hope for Silent Hill fans.
The two video game companies have entered a “strategic cooperation agreement” according to a statement on Bloober Team's website, which will see Konami and Bloober Team creating joint content and exchanging knowledge.
“It is a historic day for me and the culmination of several years of our work,” says Bloober Team President Piotr Babieno. “The fact that such a renowned company as Konamihas decided to strategically cooperate with the Bloober Team means that we also joined the world leaders in gaming and became an equal partner for the leading players in this market.”
Bloober Team has previously hinted that it had been working on an established horror IP with a “very famous publisher”, and with this announcement, it now seems extremely likely that the Polish developer will be creating the next Silent Hill game, although it is still yet to be officially confirmed.
“We have been providing unique entertainment content and ways to enjoy it through the use of information technology. In the digital entertainment industry, significant changes in the business environment are expected in the future,” said Konami COO Hideki Hayakawa. “We look forward to combining Bloober Team’s and our respective characteristics and strengths to create high-quality contents.”
Konami was meant to have a presence at E3 this year, before the Japanese gaming company pulled out due to timing issues. It did, however, promise further announcements coming in 2021 - perhaps this new game from Bloober Team will be one of them?
