Despite being less than four years old, Forza Motorsport 7 is apparently reaching ‘end of life status’, meaning that in September, the game will be removed for purchase from the Microsoft Store, and taken out of the Xbox Game Pass library.

Anyone who already owns Forza Motorsport 7 or any add-on DLC content will still be able to download and play the game after its September removal date, while multiplayer and other online services will also be available.

Xbox Game Pass players who've purchased DLC for the game, meanwhile, will receive a token via the Message Centre to enable you to continue playing Forza Motorsport 7 - tokens will go out from 2nd August.

If you've had your eye on Forza Motorsport 7 but have yet to buy the game, it's currently discounted on the Microsoft Store until its removal on 15th September, so you can add it to your library and retain access to it once it's gone.

You can read more about Forza Motorsport 7 and its ‘end of life status’ on developer Turn 10's blog here.

  • Phil Spencer claims he worries about the loss of video game history, then does shit like this... Also remember when he said they'd be starting back up the backwards compatibility program once the Series X/S were released...
  • I don't remember him saying they would do jack or.... well. But I completely agree on the game preservation thing.

I get to Microsoft the mainline Forza games are more like interactive car museums but they all offer different things that mean something different to certain gamers and that is what preservation is really about.
  • We at a point now where even their own first party games are timed exclusive to their own platform.
