Tomorrow will see Assassin's Creed Odyssey receiving a new patch that will enable 60 frames per second when playing on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, so you can play the Ancient Greek adventure at twice the usual frame rate.

Title Update 1.6.0 (detailed on Ubisoft's forums here) is due to roll out for Assassin's Creed Odyssey on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 at 7am BST/8am CEST/2am EST/4pm AEST on 24th August, 11pm PDT on 23rd August.

The patch will weigh in at around 370MB on Xbox One, and will only provide support for 60fps in Assassin's Creed Odyssey when playing on Xbox Series X|S via backwards compatibility. Nice.

  • Nice. Will need to do a New Game + when I get a SeriesĀ³.
  • anyone have experience with the 'black screen of death'? i've tried the hard reset with no luck...there are other supposed remedies, but since i have no 'screen', they seem rather absurd.

any other work arounds or options to try?
  • Too bad I already completed the game. Damn
  • You can complete a game twice. Many modern games like AC Odysseus incentivise you to do just that.

    Incentives are important.

When I first got my Series S I had the black screen a few time freaked me out I actually fixed it by changing which HDMI port the console was plugged into on the tv, the screen would come back and I could switch it back to it's original port.

The only other options that could fix the issue involve the xbox's troubleshooter menu to factory reset or reinstall the xbox OS from a usb which you really need to be able to see, it's possible to do it blind if you know the menu but I don't recommend it unless it's a last resort.
  • This is exciting for me as I still have the majority of the game to do still, as well as the DLC. I think I'm on about chapter 2 or 3. I've been wanting to do this for awhile, so I could move onto Valhalla. However there is always something new coming on Gampeass I get sucked into, or I'm trying to cram in a title that is leaving Gamepass, or a game I had on hold at the library comes in & I'll be trying to cram that in during my borrowing period.
  • Odyssey is my favorite AC game by far.
