Wired Productions, Oiffy, and Wolf & Wood have revealed an all-star cast for first-person narrative-based adventure The Last Worker, headed up by Jason Isaacs (The Death of Stalin, Black Hawk Down, the Harry Potter series).
Featuring a blend of handcrafted 2D and 3D visuals, The Last Worker is set within an increasingly automated world, where human workers have dwindled dramatically. The game also promises “uniquely immersive gameplay mechanics” with an “emotional, thought provoking and comedic story”.
As well as Isaacs as Skew, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (The Meg, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance) will feature as Kurt, Clare-Hope Ashitey (Children of Men, The White King, Shooting Dogs) will play HoverBird, and David Hewlett (The Shape of Water, Stargate: Atlantis, Rise of the Planet of the Apes) will voice Josef.
“The Last Worker felt entirely unlike every game I’ve played or been a part of. The characters were human and complicated and funny, the story was poignant and personal and, yes, the game-playing was addictive and fun,” Isaacs remarked. “All round it felt fresh, creative and original. When was the last time you had a helper bot from Liverpool?! The creator, Jörg, is a risk-taking nerd of the highest order. Roll on The Last Worker 2… if that’s not a contradiction!”
The Last Worker will be coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2022. You can check out the game's all-star cast in the trailer below.
