Halo Infinite Multiplayer Gameplay - It Feels Just Like Proper Old-School Halo

Over the weekend, a lucky handful of people had the opportunity to play Halo Infinite, specifically, the game's free-to-play multiplayer portion, in which Spartans can go head-to-head, battle rifles, magnum pistols, DMRs, needlers, and sniper rifles primed.

Boasting four maps and three modes, the Technical Test offered up a chance to get reacquainted with multiplayer Spartan-on-Spartan action, which, after a long while, really feels like old-school, vintage Halo.

You can't beat charging around a map, fragging rivals, leaping into a Ghost or a Warthog, whizzing around then jumping out, blasting a Banshee out of the air with a Spartan laser… Only some of which happens in our gameplay video below.

  • I hope the Campaign is awesome. I played the multiplayer test and it does feel like old Halo but I'm looking forward to what they are going to have us doing that's not pvp.
  • First thing that popped out to me was how much I actually really liked the boost/thrusting in Halo 5 also the ground pound as well. Those 3 things can change how the game is played. (At least for me)

    Didn’t really like how most weapons felt. The Assault rifle, Magnum & Needler were really good. But the battle rifle didn’t feel like a BR IMO.

    But weapons can be adjusted, so I’m not to worried.. as for everything else it will just take a little time to get used to the way it feels and getting away from the Halo 5 feel.

    Can’t wait to play the campaign come December.
  • The BR felt great to me. A lot better than the iterations of it from previous entries in the series.
    Felt truer to the Halo 3, Halo 2 era BR.

    Thought they took a few steps back with the magnum, hated it. I felt as if it didn't pack enough of a punch. Also it felt like it was quite shit from a distance.

    I'm glad they ditched the boosts, thrusts, and ground pounds. Those were stupid.

    Overall the gameplay in the Infinite preview was pretty satisfying. Looking forward to December.
