Following the closure of V1 Interactive earlier this year, Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto has announced that he has now joined EA as a Game Director, spearheading the creation of a brand new studio in Seattle. Lehto co-founded V1 Interactive alongside SOCOM co-creator Michael Gutmann in 2016.

Lehto served as Game Director on first-person shooter/RTS hybrid game Disintegration, which unfortunately failed to find an audience upon its launch in June 2020. The game's servers were shut down in September 2020, before developer V1 Interactive closed its doors almost a year later, in March 2021.

As a Game Director at EA, Lehto will be working on new first-person game projects, he confirmed via Twitter. “Hey everyone, I’m very excited to announce that I’ve joined EA as a Game Director, building a new studio in the Seattle area working on first-person games,” he said. “I can’t wait to share more about what we’re creating!”

  • Interested to see what Marcus does here. Not too crazy about EA so I guess we'll see. I remember being excited that OG IW people became Respawn. While Respawn has made some great games they never got up to the rep IW had when MW2 launched and I blame EA for that.
  • @Blade, Yeah but Lehto opened up a studio, released a shit game, called Disintegration, then shut down the new studio he co-created within a year. So as much as EA sucks, if he fails yet again, it's more likely that he was a one-trick pony like Cliff Blezinski.
