Publisher Ziggurat Interactive has announced that American Hero, a lost Atari Jaguar game developed in the '90s but never completed or published, will be coming to Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, Atari VCS, and PC later this month.
An FMV adventure inspired by '90s action movies, American Hero was thought to have been completely lost to time, but developer Empty Clip Studios is working on bringing the game back from the dead, with all of its action set-pieces, “diabolic” plots, and “steamy romances” intact.
Playing as Jack, an ex-intelligence officer, American Hero is a 'playable movie' in which you're pulled out of retirement to confront nefarious virologist Krueger, whose plans involve releasing a deadly virus into Los Angeles' water supply. As Jack, you'll need to make a series of split-second decisions in a bid to save LA.
Promising an adult storyline with “violence and sex appeal”, American Hero stars Timothy Bottoms (The Last Picture Show, Elephant), Daniel Roebuck (The Fugitive, Final Destination), and Musetta Vander (O Brother, Where Art Thou, Wild Wild West), with Bottoms recording new voice over for the game to complete the original script.
American Hero launches for Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, Atari VCS, and PC on 11th November. Check out the trailer below.
