Bandai Namco and developer FromSoftware have just finished showcasing more than almost 20 minutes of Elden Ring gameplay, taking you to ‘The Lands Between’, where you'll take up arms as a Tarnished One.
In the new video, there's a look at your mount, which is spirited away once you get off, and can use spirit springs to bound up to high vantage points, making vertical traversal almost effortless. It looks like it might be one of the only easy things in Elden Ring, however, as the game's world looks every bit as hostile as those seen in Dark Souls and Bloodborne.
From an opening fight against a dragon, glimpses at the game's seamless open world - navigated by assembling a map by collecting map fragments, and placing helpful markers - give way to dungeon-based exploration. Catacombs, caves, and crypts all harbour hidden treasures and bosses, while carriages can also be plundered for treasure. You can use a spyglass to survey your surroundings, too.
While some enemies can be avoided using stealth, in combat, you can summon spirits to aid you, or you can play with an ally in online multiplayer. As with Dark Souls and its ilk, varying routes can also be taken, with some more dangerous than others. You can see more of Elden Ring's world, its bosses, enemies, and locations like Stormvale Castle, in the gameplay preview below.
Elden Ring will be coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC on 25th February 2022, with a Premium Collector's Edition bundling a replica of Malenia's helmet, a Malenia figurine, a 40-page hardback artbook, steelbook, and digital soundtrack. The Collector's Edition is the same, sans helmet. Take a look at the gameplay and various editions of Elden Ring below.
