Forza Horizon 5 Hits 4.5 Million Players in Largest Ever Launch for Xbox Game Studios

Forza Horizon 5 has proven to be a huge success for Microsoft, with over 4.5 million players across Xbox, PC, and Cloud since the game launched in full yesterday.

A lot of this success is easily attributed to the existence of Xbox Game Pass, meaning all subscribers across Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and mobile could begin accessing the game yesterday at no extra cost. However, the highly-rated racing game was already nearing a million players during its early access window earlier this week, which only included players who had paid for the Premium Edition of the game.

According to Xbox boss man Phil Spencer, this was “the largest launch day for an [Xbox Game Studios] game”, with peak concurrent players at three times the level of Forza Horizon 4.

“We've invested for years in Xbox so more people can play,” Spencer said. “With 4.5+ million players so far across PC, cloud, and console, Forza Horizon 5 shows that promise coming to life.”

Forza Horizon 5 is available now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. You can check out our (glowing) review of the game here.

  • Actually I heard you only needed to buy premium access update if you had it on gamepass so probably not that crazy amount all things considered.

I’ve tried it three times couldn’t get past intro race and then when I finally did and picked up Supra it crashed again mid point to first showcase event. Not a good outlook on PC for now:-/
