Yakuza and Judgment developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, is apparently working on a new IP, outside of the worlds of its best-known franchises.
With a sequel to Yakuza: Like A Dragon confirmed alongside the departure of Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi, and the Judgment series potentially coming to an end with Lost Judgment, following disputes with Yagami actor Takuya Kimura's talent agency over likeness rights, RGG Studio is presumably looking to tackle something fresh.
“We’re also working on unannounced titles outside of [Yakuza and Judgment],” Studio Director Masayoshi Yokoyama told Famitsu in an interview (as transcribed by ryokutya via VGC). “We will continue to cherish the Judgment series,” he added, as the Yakuza spin-off's future seemingly hangs in the balance.
What Ryu Ga Gotoku's new IP will be is anyone's guess, of course, and at present there are no official details on the project. Feel free to speculate.
