Mass Effect TV Series Could Reportedly Be Coming to Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Studios is nearing a deal to create a TV series based on Mass Effect, according to a report from Deadline.

This titbit of information comes from Deadline's report on the success of the recent Amazon fantasy series The Wheel of Time, based on the long-running book series of the same name, with fantasy genres of all kind (including sci-fi, presumably) now seen as very important for Amazon Studios.

“One of the company’s newest hopefuls in the arena is Mass Effect,” Deadline reports. “Amazon Studios is nearing a deal to develop a series based on the best-selling sci-fi video game franchise from Electronic Arts.”

Mass Effect is a series that would likely work much better as a TV series than a film, but with the video games already offering up an excellent story, and the recent release of Mass Effect Legendary Edition making the original trilogy easily accessible once again, we can't help but wonder if a Mass Effect series is necessary. Oh, and remember when Superman and Geralt of Rivia actor Henry Cavill was teasing a secret Mass Effect project? Perhaps this is what he was working on after all.

  • Hell yes, please let this actually happen! I'd even take an animated Netflix series if that's the way we get it.
  • @hdresden, I'd totally take an animated Netflix series. For me, I find Amazon is not all that good with their Prime Originals. Jack Ryan is about the only series I've liked from them. Aside from the overt pandering that goes on, I dunno, their stuff just tends to have lots of plot holes, story elements shoe-horned in without explanation, or breaks in logic within their respective worlds.
